Light snow falling this morning.  I picked up an additional 1.5 overnight.  Central Missouri has been hit 2 days in a row and 10-15 inch amounts are common from Sedalia east.

The Ozarks are going to look beautiful…love the rolling hills in this region of the MW…

Brant Miller is suggesting a band of 4-15” into COOK and parts of East Lake county.  He’s using the high resolution rapid refresh model.  Crazy if this happens.

Irresponsible.  He did something similar with a synoptic event years ago and Jerry Taft (rip) called him out for it and even had a good chuckle at his expense.

Part 2 of this storm has made it here in Macomb, thankfully. It has been snowing from midday and still snowing. Blowing and drifting snow. I will take measurements soon. It looks like i am in the 8-10inch range. Maybe more. Apparently "Part2" , came more west, instead of sliding to my south. Radar looks awesome. Currently getting moderate snow, along w blowing snow. and temps are in the frigid teens.

Man, it is coming down now. Winds are strong as well.

I took a quick pic from the back of my house and it looks quite deep. Looks like  a 10" and still not done.

Congrats looks great, glad it worked out up there.

Actually,  they were expecting a lot more snow than this, but unfortunately, that warm air that came right ahead of the storm and then, that brief rainfall delayed my snowfall . Areas to my west got more snow (some near or over a foot) because the snow started there earlier on the predawn hours on Tuesday, whereas, my area, it delayed till late morning, so that killed off any accumulations. I will tell ya this though, I will not be greedy. If I end up near a foot, I will accept it....no questions asked.

Its been more than 15 years since I've heard it roar and snow like this. At least more than 15 years.

These days right here. That's why. That's all. I know it's so silly, but when I look outside on nights like tonight and it looks like a snowacane globe and I realize that I'm in Oklahoma and it's silly, I know. I just thank God for making me know what size I am and how very very special it is to still be thought highly of here and cared about after 6 years of my disappointments to you, failures beyond belief and disappointment in chasing hope sometimes like these little snowflakes flying by right now. If I was false hope, I'm so sorry and thank you for this moment. I've been checked out a bit after the warmest December in a millennium. Lol.

Thsnk you all. Every one of you. Worst or first. I'm blessed beyond belief.

Its a snowglobe outside! 😊😁

For all my disappointment in the way this played out here, I'm thrilled for you that you're finally getting treated to legit snowstorm down there. I remember posting those maps from the 70's mentioning that we don't seem to get those huge storms with massive coverage running through the OHV anymore. Well..maybe somebody was listening, lol.

2” of ice on the road is a bummer.  Covid ain’t got nothin on our winter “lockdown”.
Low was 14* this morning.

We’re expecting a high tomorrow of 41* so adios ice.
Bad news is I hear rumblings of another this month?
Tell me it ain’t so!!

I grew up in the Warrensburg area my whole life as well.  I agree with you that double digit snowfalls here are rare, but what seems to be missing the last 20 years are the 6-8 inch type snows.  In the 80's and 90's we would get at least 1 of these a year.  I feel like something has changed with our weather or we are long over do for some snowy Winters depending on how you want to look at it.  My mother grew up in Independence and has pics of over 30 inches on the ground where snow piled up on previous snow, that hasn't happened since.  The only time to compare it to would be Feb of '11.

Ended up with 10.1 inches in Columbia. 8.5 at the airport south of us. I’ve kept snow records since 2006 and have noticed a trend that from near Warrensburg, Columbia to near Hannibal seems to be a sweet spot during bigger storms. I’ve seen this happen several times during that timeframe.

Model data at the 24 hour mark from the first snowflake here in KC.

NAM: 7.4 inches   FAILED (I do know that this model on the 12z that morning went drier again)

ICON: 8-10 inches FAILED

HRRR: 7 inches FAILED

CMC: 7-10 inches FAILED

RGEM: 8-10 inches FAILED

RUC: 8-12 inches  FAILED

EURO: 5-8 inches  FAILED

GFS: 2-4 inches: WINNER

I have a snow removal fleet and we work 5 counties around the KC area. We have managers that work each county and supervise staff. Largest measurement I saw on our message board was 5.1 inches in Belton. The lowest was near KCI Airport, 2.1 inches. On average, throughout the city, 2-4 inches was common. So, at the 24 hour mark, the GFS corrected properly. Even at 10pm Tuesday night, local forecasters and the NWS still had widespread 6-9 inches for the city.

Anyhow, beautiful storm for many and we all should enjoy the winter wonderland and cold temps.

It's been a good last 30 days for the snow removal folks in KC. (3) storms.

Snow removal is pure bonus money, my most profitable service we have in my company. Th amount of $$$ we do in 24 hours can never happen in the landscape field and property management business. NOT EVEN CLOSE. FAST COIN!!

Enjoy your snow everyone and let's hope for a few more hits before the beauty of spring hits. The active part of the LRC is due in around FEB. 15th, lets see how it plays out.

Good start to the back loaded winter!!!!

Latest reports came in w/ a total snowfall of 9.2" in the Detroit Metro Airport. That second part of the storm helped to boost those totals. Overall, not a bad snowstorm.

Some parts did well though. It all depends where you were. Other locales west of our area were in the 10"+ range and even over a foot.  They were faster to switch back to all snow as that colder air arrived once that front rolled on through, whereas here in my area (and urs), it took its sweet old time and when it did go over to snow, it was not sticking for a while because of a warm, wet ground. Then, afterwards, as that arctic air was filtering into the storm, that is when accumulating snow started to occur, but that cost us several inches of snowfall (Big Delay), otherwise, we would have been 12"+.

Tbh, I am satisfied w/ my 9" snowfall. Detroit did decent as well, after scoring 9.2."

Great storm for a lot of SMI, especially at my daughter's place in Lansing. But you can't expect me to say my net 5.6" was a good outcome against a forecast calling for 12-16" totals. Others around me like your 9+ and a 9+ reported south down-river in Wyandotte now that's much more respectable. If I'd seen that amount I'm sure my perception of the storm would be a bit brighter. Anyhow, congrats on scoring another nice storm over in Macomb, but it looks like Athens beat you, lol.

To be totally honest, after this last storm, I’m kinda just super ready for spring lol. Like the snow started to melt today and it’s just meh. Im excited for it to be bright at 7pm again. This winter has been meh mostly anyways. I like severe weather more anyways 🙃

Im sure I posted this here but the time-lapse I got from a parking garage a few years ago makes me wish it was warmer!
