There's a reason it pays that.  You also can choose to better educate yourself, work your way up, learn a trade, start your own business or bar or restaurant. For example, my company, if you only know how to weed whack, you don't get $30/HR, now if you know how to construct retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, landscape lighting, irrigation systems, water features, which is what we do, you get paid because you are skilled. I pay those guys well!! You get paid based off what you bring to the table. If you want to weed whack and not learn anything else, that's fine, no problem at all, but you can't expect to get paid the same as the others that worked hard to achieve better skills. 

I'm all about if your skill is nothing, your work ethic is nothing, your motivation to improve your skill is nothing, you get paid next to nothing. It's pretty simple. You have a choice when you wake up every day. 

Farmer's should always be taken care of, they're the reason you eat everyday.

I'm glad you think farmers and essential, and I support their socialism.  Because that's what it is.  Too bad that idealism has been brainwashed into people thinking it's a bad thing.  

Inflation is global due to the pandemic.  It happens, and it's happened before.  The fact you fault people for wanting more money in the workplace is weird.  People get raises all the time in all aspects of employment.  The minimum wage has always gone up to keep up with inflation, except for now.  People choose to go into farming and they are propped up by the US government in able to survive.  Climate getting weirder will only make it worse.  But hey, the climate isn't changing right???? Let's keep those farmers voting (By social propaganda) against issues that affect them directly LOL.    Maybe restaurant workers should be paid billions by tax payers to stay open too.  Because so many small business are going under.   But no one will support higher taxes to bail out simple folk.  Just their almighty corporations (that don't pay taxes) and big agriculture.   

The pandemic changed the work place, messed with supplies, manufacturing etc.  It's not just people not wanting to work.  People got sick, retired etc and couldn't keep customers coming in regardless of mandates.   People don't want to work for minimum wage and can't afford anything doing double shifts and covering for shortages while not getting paid more.   I for one am glad.

I've showed my value.  Our business had record profits and sales the last 2 years.  I've had numerous promotions and raises.  I couldn't imaging working in a craphole restaurant earing "tips" and 2 dollars an hour if that.  

Grocery prices are slightly up, but no big deal.   

Oh and the economy is actually doing great.  Maybe it's time to invest in tech and green energy.  Might solve some farmer issues.  Oh but wait, people don't vote logically.  It's all about "taking our guns" (which will never happen, thank god, i support the second amendment, even though it should be more strict)   "Covid isn't real"  "vaccines don't work"  "stealing the election" "climate change is a hoax" "immigration" (who by the way sustain agriculture in this country) "abortion".  Basically emotional issues that rile up the conservative base to confuse them to what's really going on.  But let's not vote on issues that might actually help us.  Just the ones that make me mad!!!!  Amurica.

I'm sure you have too.  But there's a lot of people out there with challenges you and I can't even imagine.  Maybe you can honestly say that, if you were raised by drug addicts, around other drug addicts, with zero positive role models in your life that you'd be successful.  I can't.  

And I'll say this.  There's a good chance that any adult you see working fast food has already pulled themselves out of something pretty crappy.  Many of them have likely chosen to work a shi* job over dealing drugs with their friends.  I'm not saying they deserve to be paid more than skilled labor.  But they should be able to afford rent, food and clothes.  Otherwise, you and I subsidize their income with our taxes, and the McDonalds execs are the only winners.  

 

Well put, the amount of money that actually goes to help those poor folks in real need is so small compare to all the other spending for big business, military etc. is sad.  But again emotional issues.  They fool a lot of people in believing that actually hurts our country.  It's all deflection.  Oh no, we gave a family of 4 in need some food stamps worth 100 bucks for 2 weeks.  WE ARE DOOMED!!!  But they don't  care about the billions handed out elsewhere.  

My main point is they all bitching about droughts, supply issues etc, but then all vote against doing anything about it because of something completely unrelatable.  They are just being played.  Climate change is real.  Just accept it.  

 

If people actually realized helping people get a job and a livable wage would actually make the country better.

Alrighty then...while my snow pack continues to dwindle down (2" depth)...up north it continues to hold on with some refresher's on the way.  @Madtownlooks to get hit pretty good by the real potent clipper this Friday that'll be just about in time for his trip.  What part of the Northwoods are you heading to>

 

Some of the models are showing a "Superbowl Sunday Clipper" tracking somewhere over the area...the 0z Euro trying to squeeze out a couple inches.

Will the GEFS lead the way again for the potential system later next week?  Yet another difficult pattern for the models to try and figure out but it appears there will be a storm to track.  Tonight's 0z GEFS are the most aggressive run yet...

I was flipping through the models and noticed some similarities between the Korean model and a number of the EPS members.  I haven't really followed the Korean (KMA) but over the last 3-4 runs its been consistently showing a ULL tracking in from the NW on Super Bowl Sunday while trying to phase with a southern piece.

 

 

I'm curious to see if the other models latch onto this idea for the Sun/Mon period...

The GEFS is setting up quite nicely for you and me but given the AO and NAO look to be + I expect a significant shift NW over the coming days.  I just have a feeling KC will find itself right on the rain snow line do you agree?

Not unless the EPO starts to reverse course or the PNA.  Lots of time to see what happens.  Didn’t we have + indices of the AO/NAO during the GHD storm?  Ahh, I just checked and the AO was slightly negative.  If we don’t see signs of big shifts over the next couple days then I think you’ll be fine.

Would gladly take a March 2012 repeat.     Obviously know that was a fluke given we smashed records for 10? straight days, but even a milder version would be welcome.

I wouldn't mind a warm up soon.  Been cold for a long time.  Nothing extreme, just cold and boring.  I'd rather ride the roller coaster.  That means more storms.

I'm sorry for not being able to get out and photograph and share more. Its beautiful here. Just was unable. Vehicle issues. Anyway. Looking forward to this rollercoaster down here. Bound to be some exciting wx in my future.

Just the 31st day with any snow OTG this entire cold season going back to my first Nov clipper (which few outside this area shared). With my Rona illness, a large chunk of the boring stretch was not really felt, but the cold (more on tap this weekend) in the 10 days after I got out of the hospital was NOT a welcomed visitor. This current snow pack now with us here in the Metro for only a week has made it seem like a month, lol. Doubt I'd have the stomach for endless weeks/months of snow pack (ground, where are you??) a normal NMI winter features.

EURO/GFS/GEM all show snow from KS to NEB and off to the NE from there. A lot of warm air out in front of it. KC is in all rain.
