Just landed at LAX. Saw the heat advisory on Tuesday and said screw it I need some sun so bought some tix and found a sweet VRBO in Newport Beach. 91 degrees today at Newport Beach.

Looks like PCH is open again, you could go see the fire in Laguna.

Will be interesting when the monster disintegrates in the spring months (likely between late-March and late-April).

Reminiscent of 1997 in many respects.

Western WA and central OR are very different.     Talking about western WA does not imply anything about what is happening in central OR.     You are the one making that leap.   Snowpack in the WA Cascades is close to normal right now.

You are implying that we don't understand the big picture.    We get it.     Situation is very different in western WA and SW BC than it is in Oregon and CA.     As usual unfortunately.

He didn't even mention western WA in his post, so your reply was pointless. You are the one who is implying we don't understand the big picture. You don't need to repeat your downplaying every time the drought is mentioned. It was already getting old a year ago.

I posted the drought map yesterday, I clearly acknowledge much of western Washington is not in drought. 88% of Oregon is however, and most of Washington east of the Cascades. Snowpack in the Oregon cascades is still near normal, but when a region is in long term drought it takes more than just two weeks of heavy mountain snow to end it.

Read your post... it sounds like you are saying that FB weather group really understands what is going on which implies this group does not.  😀

I need to leave early for work some morning and stop and take a photo of each palm tree I pass on the ride in, just so I can assemble it into a gallery of Canadian palm trees to post here for Phil’s enjoyment.

That has been the norm up here the past couple weeks, which is pretty amazing. Kind of shocked it got down to 31 this morning with the airmass we have overhead.

Unlike other days this week, the clouds are already breaking up this morning. Might be a pretty nice torch.

Jesse s favorite. Clouds keep temps up, skies clear early for maximum daytime heating.

We held onto our snowpack pretty well through Jan as it stayed relatively cool. But the last week has taken a toll and exposed area's are back to dirt which is pretty remarkable when we had a 72" snow pack on the level back in early Jan.

Today is supposed to be 61F! so extreme melting will continue. If we don't get a March miracle our rivers peak flows will be in mid Feb instead of the usual late April - Mid May timeframe. This is easily the most Bipolar winter ever.

Looks like The Dalles, OR hit 70 degrees yesterday. From what I can tell that is a new all time February high for them. They also hit an all time December high of 70 early this winter on 12/1/21.

Before this winter there were no 70 degree days in their POR between November 24 and March 2. Now there are two, and only one calendar month remaining that they’ve never hit 70 (January)

This could end up being one of our mildest Nina winters of all time regionally.

Yeah it seems like the Mega Ridge from June keeps popping back up in some form in the same location. We have now had two dry streaks this winter of 40+ days which is crazy
