This one is full of surprises.  I guess we shouldn't be all that surprised when you look at how this evolved at the 500mb level.  It has the classic look.

I think this event tonight is being aided by the very dry air starting to invade the area.  It is thoroughly ringing all of the moisture out of the clouds.

Yeah... it seems to be related to moisture coming in from the east being enhanced by northerly flow through the Sound.     It was drying out well here this afternoon and then it just exploded.    Very unusual way to get snow with an arctic front.

Deer 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌 are hungry and looking for food outside. Seven right outside my porch looking for food but covered by snow. They tried to cross the road which had just been plowed but were just waiting by the side of the state hwy and a car lightly honked at them and we all thought it was hilarious. Caused a small town traffic jam down the block lol.

Just flurries here to the west but the band has the right trajectory to make it.

You just never know with this thing.  The radar view we're getting is probably somewhat distorted being from Langley Hill.

Thanks! I figured that you were probably somewhat higher in elevation than those who live in Seattle or Tacoma.

I am only 500 feet higher than SEA... but it can make a big difference in certain situations.

Do we only have partial coverage?

SEA radar has been down all day.    Thankfully the tops with this event this evening were high enough that the costal radar could provide some idea of what is happening.

LOL!  I'm guessing you are in the screw zone.  These events are hard for me up in Bellingham, I just have to keep reminding myself that there have been times where we get the goods and every one else....well except @MossMan ...is in the screw zone.  He is NEVER in the screw zone.  If I could swing it I would definitely be actively trying to become his neighbor!

Heck I moved FROM Stanwood so I know how you feel. Although south Camano was the big winner this am. I'd rather not live on SC though because it's an hour just to get to I-5 and you lose power every time a light breeze ripples.

Very pleased to be going into this with snow. That was the biggest concern. Also pleasantly surprised by the high of 35 today. The airmass isn't really THAT cold yet, and this time of year a couple of sunbreaks can easily pop us into the upper 30s on a day like this.

I've been puzzled all evening about the origin of this precip, but I think this is a good analysis. Moisture retrograding around the low to our east w/ low level convergent arctic outflow between cascade gap outflow and fraser northerlies. Extremely unusual! Sat and radar trying to get something done over the Seattle area now. Would be awesome to get some surprise flakes out of this, just like what the Euro showed. Honestly I thought it was a resolution fluke and that it would stay in the cascades. Not so!

Snowing at @Jginmartinis place so it’s not far from here 35 with a DP of 26 here. Just very weird to see decent bands of snow coming off the cascades moving SW.

Jim’s probably going to end up with atleast an inch! Pretty interesting.

Tim will stay below freezing all day tomorrow with deep snowcover and Arctic reinforcement. Jim was borderline at best before his surprise snow, but now it's very possible he does too! Hopefully my area can get some in the coming few hours as the last bit of moisture rotates around the area. :)

As for Thursday's system, the westward trend on the GFS is very real and very significant. Caving to the Euro...again.... Could mean for more snow in the region if this trend continues. As @MR.SNOWMIZER said earlier, with Arctic air comes unexpected surprises; especially when liquid precip errors of 0.1" can mean an unexpected 0.5-2" of snowfall!
