PNW February 2022 - Winters Last Stand

When looking at the list of February record low maxima at KSEA: 2011, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, and now 2022 appear on that list. 

A few of the dates mentioned nearly overlap with other years in the list. For instance, Feb 5th 2014 brought a high of 31°F, then on that same date in 2019 it reached 34°F.

Just remembered we also had a light dusting of snow here on 2/24/21. Would be cool to get a dusting exactly one year later.

The fact NWS PDX hasn’t hoisted a WSW for tomorrow morning is very telling.

Each of the last 4 euro runs have trended quite a bit wetter with this system, 00z Euro had basically nothing but 18z is somewhat decent for a few spots. Hopefully bodes well for tonight.

After the last 3 days were down to -0.4 for February. Today was our 15th sub 40 high this season…and 18th freeze.

It is now 32 degrees here. If liquid falls from the sky, it will be frozen.

Temps also 32 here so it’ll definitely snow. Did notice driving home looking to the north the clouds looked kinda snowy. I’m sure we will atleast see some snowflakes tonight but hopefully more!

A most impressive 36/23 for SEA today.  -15 departure.

Even though it didn't fully decouple here last night it still managed to drop to 22.  Cold for this time of year!  Now we wait and see how much snow we will manage to get out of this little system dropping through.

Those clouds made for a really nice sunset tonight….thought T-Town was going to post some shots of it tonight

East wind must’ve kept going there. I’m very surprised I ended up colder than you this morning.

Winters a B+ for me right now but will be an A if we can get accumulating snow tonight.

Nice uptick from the NAM. Given the trends and typical challenges from these upper level systems, an over performance is certainly possible.

Ended up with a 38/23 day here sunny all day with a light east wind in the morning would be nice to see the clouds hold off until toward sunrise

Although Eugene may be south enough to stay clear for most of the night. We’ll see.

It was still clear about an hour ago in Troutdale, I did see high clouds to the north on my way to work.

Yeah seems like wind or clouds or both are usually issues at some point when we have a really cold airmass overhead

Pretty nice to be in a situation where every bit of moisture that falls will unquestionably be snow.  Probably better than 10 to 1 at that.  Currently 30 and cloudy here.

Satellite make this system look more "potent" than it probably is, has a back edge of a front look to it at least.
