Just been upgraded to a high wind warning
It's like one continuous gust of wind. Just crazy - was in the grocery store and the power went out, thankfully they must have generators because it was crazy dark in there.

Wow, they're going to blow snow for me. There's nothing on the ground in lake geneva area but they're saying we might do better tomorrow. As long as we bring in some cold air I'm going to be super happy at this point. And I'm glad to see some of you finally getting some decent snow, hopefully the next system can inch southward a tiny bit for me.
I'm hoping for a little tick south too. The radar looks like a snow jaw around Milwaukee right now - hoping it clamps shut!
-
We had a good hour burst earlier this morning - about an inch or so just west of Milwaukee but just flurries since then. We are riding the edge down here so far.
-
With this crazy February weather the daffodils have started to come up already. They are going to be in for a rude shock after this week.
-
With the exception of about fifteen minutes last Saturday we have not seen the sun shine through the clouds since January 15th. They are suggesting the possibility of a little tomorrow afternoon, but we shall see.

They have me with 5-11". Now that's full weenie. I wouldnt be surprised if we see some 6+" totals if thermals work out.
Germantown? I'm about twenty miles due south, I'm hoping your forecast is correct and ours is underestimating - they have us at 7". I'll take anything which is white and falling from the sky at this point!

Weather Underground is significantly bumping up our totals here in MKE - interesting to see if this is one of those unexpectedly over performing storms.

Here's MKE's take on the Christmas weekend:
"Saturday Onward - forecast confidence is low. Over the past few
days, we have observed a potpourri of model solutions for the
Holiday weekend Onward. This morning's round of model/ensemble
output is no exception. While there is agreement that a decent
mid level wave will eject out of the southern/central rockies,
there are a variety of solutions regarding the potential strength,
track and timing of this system. The bottom line at this point is
to closely monitor future forecasts for next weekend."I like how basically it says, "the bottom line is we have no idea"

The record low here is -11 for the day. Don't think we'll break it. -14 sounds brutal - any wind?

Hopefully we can build upon the snowpack mid week. Might be in for another 2-4".
I'll take it - starting to remind me of December of 2007 (I think it was) - outside shoveling constantly. Nothing like a little wall of snow on either side of the driveway!
-
I'd say we got 8" - 8.5" here or so. The second wave was a nice addition to the disappointing first wave. Happy to see the snow mounds growing nice and high, especially after last year!

Speaking of lights - just noticed one of my lit-up trees went dark. Outlet somewhere in a sea of snow - figures!
-
This has turned into a great snow - big fluffy flakes and a little wind, feels like ages since we've had something like this around here. First wave was disappointing, but this is definitely making up for it!
-
Coming down really nicely west of Milwaukee. This is what I was hoping to see yesterday.
-
MKE just issued a Winter Storm Watch - 7-10 inches.

Got 6 here, maybe pushing 6.5 - 7. To answer Tom's question for a bit south of Money (who I believe in Fond du Lac?) it got wetter as the snow wound down, much drier earlier. Beautiful snow though, lots clinging to the trees.
-
Looks like we are in for our first freeze of the year tonight - 8th latest on record for MKE. Latest was November 24th in 1931. Weather lately has been beautiful- a lot of sun and mild temperatures. I'm really starting to look forward to the holiday season but the warmth is deceptive and makes it seem like it's months away. Yesterday's high was 66 here - only two weeks before Thanksgiving- crazy!

Welcome aboard. You chose the correct weather forum. You will learn a lot about weather on here.
Btw: I saw my first flakes today!!!!
Thanks for the welcome! I'm jealous of the flakes!
MKE 1.62" of rain - mby 1.98" of rain. Someday soon it'll all be snow

Hey newbie, welcome aboard! Perfect timing as I was hoping for somebody west of me to post some current qpf stat's etc. Your area's looking great this winter. Have fun in here. see ya around..
Thanks for the welcome! Happy to fill in any data from this side of the pond! Rain and more rain right now. Hoping you're right for a real winter this year - last year was utterly depressing!

Hi everyone, new guy here at the forum, have been lurking aorund for a few months and decided to finally join. I don't know much about the science of weather, but I sure do enjoy observing it and was delighted to find some cold and snow lovers! I am outside of Milwaukee - it's been raining steadily here since about midnight - inch and a half so far, 45 degrees and heavy grey skies, leaves falling from the trees. A great day, the only thing that could have made it better were if it were coming down as snow rather than rain!

Does it indicate the situation a bit further north in Milwaukee?
