That supercell in Chicago ended up being amazing! I was shocked it came through but unfortunately was working so couldn’t really take pics like I wanted, but I love the tornado siren sound so much, it’s so creepy everytime it gives me goosebumps!!! Crazy how my house missed completely but downtown we got a direct hit.
The storms in Wisconsin are pretty intense, and the NAM actually looks like it brings them down here once again, hoping my house in the burbs get something tonight

As a just for fun photographer, I’m pretty sad that this year of all years is the one that Illinois has had close to nothing in terms of warnings and actual storms. With gas being what it is, I don’t really find it worth it to chase outside of the state unless it’s one of the immediate surrounding, so I’m banking on IL getting in on some of the action tomorrow though it looks like the potential has shifted a bit north with the updated models. So meh
That said, here’s the one shot I got from the only decent warning we’ve had back in May, where of course I didn’t have my camera lol

I’m not sure I can recall a worse spring weather wise. My grass is still not needing mowed. Trees don’t have much of any leaves yet. We’ve pretty much not had back to back nice days all spring. It’s been windy as hell. I’m about ready to move south. And no end in sight. Long range shows more of the same. At least we’re getting plenty of much needed rain though. Just would love to get some consistently nice weather for a change.
OH MY GOD LITERALLY. I went for a run this morning and i almost cried because it was absolutely freezing. It’s just cold 5 days a week and like 60 on the ‘warm’ days. I might go down there with you if you do lolThat said, on the one “warm” day this past weekend, I took some pretty cool pictures of the clouds after the storms came through at an abandoned mansion we found in the middle of nowhere.

Models not looking good around here, broken record, for any significant moisture. Our church will have a prayer vigil tomorrow night to pray for rain. People are realizing this is going to be a devastating situation for a region that relies 100% on agriculture. This will impact all business.
Awwww this is so awful. I can’t believe how bad it’s getting there. Isn’t May/June usually your best months though for precip? Hope you know everyone in here is rooting for you!!

All of these models have a little doughnut hole right over the south burbs of Chicago (aka me lol). Anyone know why?! So weird to me.

To be totally honest, after this last storm, I’m kinda just super ready for spring lol. Like the snow started to melt today and it’s just meh. Im excited for it to be bright at 7pm again. This winter has been meh mostly anyways. I like severe weather more anyways
Im sure I posted this here but the time-lapse I got from a parking garage a few years ago makes me wish it was warmer!

It has now turned into a landscape of white gold. I'm looking forward to the LES later tonight into tomorrow. Some places on the south side already nearing double digits. @Jayceereporting 7.5" in Tinley Park...that area was under some heavy banding earlier this morning.
Here’s some pics from around 12:30pm today and it’s still snowing. Pretty awesome so far!- 10

With the way the rain is setting up over the N side of town, I think the energy is further NW than predicted and models are seeing it. It’s also awesome how both the KC people and Chicagoans are both cheering for eachother I really hope this works out for all of us!

Welcome! I have worked in Tinley for years and just moved to Orland from the West Loop in November. I went the entire month of December without getting a shovel. Finally picked one up at the beginning of January haha
Thank you! It’s a big change of pace but having a place to park and not having to drive around to find a spot for an hour is a relief
Also, I actually think I’m in a decent spot. I think this goes north last minute, even if it’s 20 miles Tinley is golden. I’m so excited!!! NAM even gives me 12-15” and riding the boarder of even more, I absolutely am not complaining!

I think this will actually wobble quite a bit yet, I just don’t know where. It’s crazy how many people would be happier if it just goes 50-75 miles north. Though the southern suppression trend is a bummer

Finished wrapping up my move into the south burbs yesterday (Tinley Park). I still have a place in the city but love my new place down here. Only problem is neither the girl I’m living with nor I even have a shovel since we’re both from the city and we now have a massive driveway lol so we’re both a bit nervous!

We got about 5-6” from LES in the city so I’m super excited for this to add to our close to 12” depth — though I wouldn’t be surprised if it went south and was one of those Indianapolis 6-8” hitters. Hope I’m wrong though!

This thing coming apart at the seams (in terms of a big snow) is unfortunate to see.
Fwiw, based off that storm that produced that crazy tornado outbreak a few weeks ago, the models were sort of underselling how intense that low pressure was going to be up being til the last minute I feel like. Heck, most of Nebraska wasn’t expecting severe weather and then the day of they get in an enhanced risk and Lincoln sets a record for highest straight line winds. also, Minneapolis ended up with 21” of snow when they were predicting around 8-12”. We have unusually warm waters in the Gulf and in the Lakes, I think these recent trends of it being weaker are wrong. It’s more so a question of where it’s going to happen. I’m also never right and don’t know what I’m talking about lol but just my guess!

I’m happy the NAM is finally including Chicago! Im still nervous but we seem to be in a good spot overall. It’d be awesome if it was one of those storms that strengthens more than models were predicting, I’d love to see one of us get 12”+ out of this!

I didn’t realize how bad KC has done the past few years Im rooting for you guys! Usually when KC gets storms we get them too in Chicago. I haven’t been watching much this year, it’s been soooo boring. This is exciting to even have something to watch finally!

I took this picture of myself on December 1st after seeing the farmers almanac winter forecast, thinking that we were going to have a white Christmas:

The convection that fell apart over chicago this morning might’ve ruined our chances of anything tonight had that not happened I can only imagine how intense the storms would be right now! I guess we’ve been pretty spoiled though. Here’s a picture from a photographer I follow on insta — the lightning was so amazing last night!

Omg Chicago pulled a Cedar Rapids! I’ve never seen storms dissipate so quickly lol ugh!

Edited the sirens from 2 weeks ago into a video of a time-lapse of a nasty cell in Chicago that I got from a parking garage in 2018.
