Im eyeballing as well, thinking 4” here too? Can’t really tell tbh but it is still snowing. I’ll have to go look, I think Tom is in the best area being even further on the north side of town who didn’t get the temporary dry slot that moved in early this morning!

This snow is absolutely ripping right now! I think we deff get 8” minimum when all is said and done. Loving what I’m seeing so far up here on the north side of Chicago!

Looking forward to a snowy weekend. Still sticking with double digits this side of the lake.
I’m in between Evanston and downtown — ripping insanely good here but we’re on the edge of the heavy stuff right now. I think I’m sitting pretty tho! If I can even get 6” I’ll be happy

D**n and just like that, looks like my 12-18” forecast from the NWS isnt looking possible anymore.

Tom's in for quite the schlammering this weekend tho..
It has been nearly a decade since seeing those totals actually predicted by the NWS in my backyard. This is absolutely amazing, I’m finally getting my Christmas present that I’ve hoped for, for so long. I love Chicago, and despite loving Nebraska, I’m so happy I’m here and this snow is just a plus. I can’t wait this is gunna be an amazing weekend!

Hope I can get some LES from this. Have yet to ever experience it in my lifetime and I really wanna see it work it's magic! if this thing can phase quicker, I think 95% of this forum benefits. Let's hope the 18z models are somehow onto something.

Just saw a Facebook post that said 12-18” though guys so I’m prepping for it. Buckle up! Can’t wait!

Also! Not sure if anybody has ever used this website, but I use it sometimes, especially for temp and wind as it’s so precise. It gives the updates on the GEM, GFS, and ICON. Here’s the link:

Well the models are still good, but I dont like how the clipper dumps snow north of us then it re phases just south. eastern Nebraska is just in a weird transition zone. Hoping it can just get its act together a few hours earlier.
Omg I remember when that would happen out there haha it’s sooo frustrating. We’re not even in the NAM zone yet, so plenty of time for change! Doubt that the areas outlined with the heavy snow axis will hols true to when it’s on shore, let alone when it’s actually snowing. I think this is a SE NE/NE MO/N IL special in the works. Just gotta have it phase a tad quicker and we’re all in business.

I’m not worried. Still super far out, plenty of time for it to change back. If you think about it, it’s better when it does this 100+ hours, and it’s always pretty inevitable for it to do just that. Hopefully models will pick back up on it, I’m not losing hope for a solid snowstorm for a lot this forum.

Having been on that end of these storm threads a ton, I completely understand what you are saying.
Wow look at that, someone who has been shafted constantly is being sympathetic in a thread to someone who has been gifted the past couple years who is now “complaining”. Looking at all of you who got mad at Neb posters for being upset at getting shafted the past few years. Congrats tho man! Wish I was there to see it

Talk about being shafted every storm! I’m on the north side of Chicago, almost every storm here has went west, north, and now south. Hope this thing nudges north. I haven’t seen anything here this year

This is the weirdest winter ever lol what even. No snow in Minnesota, in January, but Northern Arkansas is about to get buried. Makes sense.

December 2000 was the wildest month I can remember. Seems like we were getting slammed every couple days. Epic month.
I loved that year. One of the best blizzards id ever seen was here in Chicago that year, was absolutely amazing how much snow we had. Loved it!

What's interesting is that should the much anticipated pattern change not occur or deliver around these parts, our historic December to remember could actually make another run at the least snowiest December. Not sure if Tom or anyone knows where Chicago is officially at or that the record is, but something to keep an eye on.
In other new, leaves finally starting to drop off my stubborn tree.
I picked a great year to move here! Lol ugh, maybe i'm the jinx.

Wow, just wow! Most of us in Nebraska aren’t going to be allowed to complain about missing out on snow for quite a while. Just brutal for Central parts of Iowa.
You know what sucks even more? I moved FROM Nebraska this year after being there for over a decade. Now I'm on Lake Michigan in Chicago, in which case we had received a whopping 2" from our blizzard warning where I'm at because of the WAA. We have less than 4" on the year in my location. I don't care what anyone says, I've been screwed the hardest out of anyone the past few years, so despite my username on here, I have the right to complain!!!!

Just unloading snow for Nebraska!!!!
HOLY F***. This is an insane run! There's gunna be 2' totals in Nebraska with this run. Wow!

@Nebraskans.
You guys are gold. I can feel it. This is your storm-- I honestly have said all along this year will be a 2009 repeat and this would resemble it almost perfectly with that storm we had early December of that year. I think this thing moves south last second and destroys you. Gut feeling on this one boys!

Yeah that's crazy on the fv3 but looks like a Souix city storm.
Yep. Honestly I don't know what to believe at this point. Though Chicago got the storm last time, I still ended up with less than you guys out in Nebraska did, despite the models saying the WAA would be overtaken even downtown. Needless to say, just be thankful that it's showing A STORM. I can't believe how in this day in age the weather models are still just so bad. Then again, where would the fun be if they were accurate all the time? So I guess I can't complain.
Anywhoozers, I think the models are overdoing the WAA on this one. No shot that with the snowpack we have down from the Plains eastward that it will go THAT far north. I think Nebraska is sitting pretty with this one, hopefully it turns into a bowling ball and gives us all a good storm in the coming runs

Roughly 1-2” at my place in Chicago lol. Bohemian Shaftcity if I’ve ever seen one! If it all would’ve been snow we’d be BURIED.
-
How much are they calling for
We’re just north of downtown by about 8 miles on the Lake. Point click only said 3-5” though despite the graphic saying more. Guess we’ll see!

It’s been ripping good! Visibility was only around 1/4 mile for the past hour. Need to go measure and see where we’re at!
