Quite the lightning show last night. Feels good to finally get a nice soaker in what has been a dry pattern for the last several months.

Tornado Watch per EAX.

Picked up a surprise 1-1.5” of fresh snow today. Not bad.

Current conditions: uninhabitable 

Brutal stretch of misses for Chicago.

Some snow melt today with temperatures in the mid 30s. Looks like what’s left after today won’t be going anywhere for a bit. The extended is looking bone dry and frigid.

OKC, Tulsa, and Little Rock will end up with more snow than here from this pattern

As of noon...storm total snowfall here at Pleasant Hill is 10.8". The storm total precip is 1.16" which is the normal precipitation for the entire moth of January. This will definitively help with the drought provided we ever see the ground again

As of noon...Kansas City has received 5.7" of snow and 0.79" of precipitation for this event.

 

Total at MCI matches what most got, but wow, they cleaned up down there at the EAX office.

Reports around the metro range anywhere from 4-7”. I’d say I ended up closer to the higher end of that range around 5-6”. WSW seems to have verified!

Moderate to heavy snow. Accumulating quickly. Temp at 32.

Nice band of moderate to heavy snow moving through.

Snowfall in the WSW updated to 7-12 inches .

Underwhelming first half. Bulk of heavy precip was east. Deformation band is going to have to crush us to justify the WSW.

GFS is going to look better...
