May 18, 1980 - Mt. St. Helen's erupted. Accuweather has a nice article on their site and on Twitter. The Multiple photos are the last images Geologist David Johnston took before his death. He was 5 miles from the volcano. He unloaded his film, placed them in a container, then inside his backpack and fell on the backpack to protect the images. He died moments later.
