Up to 50 degrees for the first time in 15 days.
45 here. I'm in GH at 370' and in the woods not far from the end of Vashon. But we don't get the highs or lows here.

That road can be a bit scary in the winter at times.

We should start a weather forum softball league. No joke lol
You guys would probably like my yard. I have a couple acres and have a lighted wiffleball stadium with 25' foul poles and a faux jumbotron. Some pretty good ballplayers would come by and hit, they started dominating me when I got in my 50's however. My competitive baseball ended after HS, had a torn labrum from football and it was back in the day before you could really do anything about it so that limited my baseball and football future. Ended up playing JC basketball instead.

I believe Seattle has recorded snow as late as April 18th. In 1976, KBLI recorded 3" of snow in April. What I forecast could happen.
We had a 1/2" of snow and freezing temps about 15-20yrs ago? on May 5th, 400' elevation just SW of Port Orchard at my old house. I remember other areas around the sound had snow too. Some of my coldest memories are playing baseball in March/April. The coldest was at Wilson HS in Tacoma on a windy mid 30 degree day. I should have just put on a pair of ski gloves, at least I would have had feeling in my hands.

Gig Harbor isn't the best either for snow and definitely not cold. Last year was a big exception, kept getting hit with snow in snowmageddan. I teach in South Kitsap and can't believe how many times in just the 4 yrs I've lived here I'm off on snow days without much snow at my place.

We’re doing everything we can South Sound to keep this week a none event so Portland doesn’t feel left out. We’ve done a pretty good job at accomplishing that goal but today i was very worried with the intrusion of moisture and seeing a few snowflakes. Anyhow, East winds figured it out and created a nice hole around us. Good to know we have the Olympics to our west and dry wind from East protecting us at all times.

Lived west of Port Orchard for most of my life and only 4th winter in NE Gig Harbor. The East winds really effect GH, don't remember that issue in Port Orchard, in fact I think it was the opposite and caused upslope snow like they are getting today. Still haven't got used to missing school for snow days in SK when GH has next to nothing. It used to be, "why are we cancelling school?", "because we have 6" of snow on the west side of town."

Nephew in Buckley estimates 40mph gusts. He's pretty accurate and lives in the area that gets the insane winds. Has weather station. It's 37 with really dry air. So that hole probably is downslope wind effected.

Got 20 minutes of actual snowfall. First time this week it wasn't just tiny flakes. Covered up the bare spots.
-
14mph GFS at my place in GH to 40mph with ECMWF. Hopefully the GFS is correct.
-
Definitely was hoping we would do better in Tacoma with this cold snap. However..we got 1.5" of snow which is better than many winters...maybe a bit more today. Still out here in port orchard today and tomorrow we will see if it gets interesting here.
Depends on what part of Port Orchard. West side usually gets a lot more snow.

If it does cross the sound into Seattle, N. Seattle is the fringe. Anywhere south, just forget it.
I've been just in the eastern edge of the bands all night in Gig Harbor and it's been nothing, just tiny flakes.
-
2 inches new snow since 6pm.
Friend of mine in Sunnyslope, east of you at 550' said he has 3" of new. Not sure how accurate but he said it's really been coming down.
-
There is no east wind yet.
Wind is out the south. It switches to east by early morning after this band lifts into Canada. ECMWF showed that it we back down into the upper 20s in Seattle by morning with a ESE wind.
I wonder if it's just local then? The water between Vashon and Gig Harbor is only 2000' away.
-
Is it the strong east winds that are wiping out the snow in NE Gig Harbor area? Showed heavy band and all we're getting is a few tiny flakes.
-
Still very weird the way the bands are just shooting up around the canal and bypassing GH. But then bands are popping up a few miles east. Just getting a few flakes.
-
You have no idea how many times the Olympics have messed with our snow totals. Not counting the enhanced totals, those are OK.
-
Hopefully more than tiny flakes tonight

Where do you see the NWS model blend?

SO THERE IS A CHANCE
Yes, same odds as Dumb and Dumber. There is a chance!

I think hiway 101 is blocking the moisture.

30 for a high at my house. Hood canal cold holder in full force.
NE part of GH 32 and 28 today. My place just doesn't vary much in temperature. The opposite of my old place just west of Port Orchard that could get some temp swings especially in the summer.
-
How many days a year are you grateful for the rainshadow?
The Olympics are great, just in the way sometimes.
Alright. Maybe level em and put up a 6000' high retractable fence. Keep it up for the summer and also put it up when we need the damming effect for big snow.

I thought I was the only one thinking this. Explosives should work.
I could borrow my dad's dozer. I leveled about 1/2 acre with it pretty easily. I'm thinking if we all level about an acre it wouldn't take long!

Yes I have a Davis Vantage Pro in a decent location. I have 2.5 acres so I put it in the best spot. I'm only 2000' from Colvos passage/Narrows so real moderating effect. Also on top of fairly steep hill so on a clear night when I go down the hill towards GH it will be 7-8 degrees colder. However it we get 3-4" of snow there might be less than an inch of slush or nothing at the bottom of hill 1/2 mile away.
