  1. Thanks. Just checking to see if SK will maybe be late again.
  2. It's been snowing at 370' in Gig Harbor for over an hour. Temperature has dropped just over a degree down to 33.8
  3. Obviously he didn't have to drive to work on a sheet of ice this morning.
  4. I will say in all my years of driving the roads may have been about the worst this morning. Definitely should not have taken the usual backroads to work from Gig Harbor to Manchester. Winding hilly roads and not to far from the sound, but usually a few minutes quicker. 35 degrees and roads were mostly bare and a little bit of slushy snow at my place but within a mile from my house it was pretty bad and only got worse. Looks like the most snow from last night was probably an inch or less, and the black ice was insane. Looked at doppler and it showed rain for an hour or so after it snowed earlier. The black ice seemed to be fairly thick from the freezing rain. The local "Banner jump" area was insane.
  5. If it was driving through Gig Harbor, that 5 mi might actually be OK.
  6. Done now here. Covered the bare spots from the dogs tracks and wrestling and covered road.
  7. heavy sleet only lasted a few minutes now just light sleet?
  8. Just the heavy precipitation can also effect temp by 3 or 4 degrees also.
  9. We're late also (South Kitsap). County wants to get the nasty side roads and side walks done. Didn't get above freezing til today.
  10. SK is 2hrs late. Side roads and side walks need to be cleared.
  11. Funny, I always thought Ellensburg got a lot of snow because in my college yrs at WSU in the 80's it seemed like every winter it got dumped on.
  12. Temperature is rising. Was back under freezing and all of a sudden it's 32.9 in GH.
  13. I know it was a quick rise to the top. My nephew is going to pitch at Oregon State. He won the family genetic lottery, quickness, coordination, strength and he's 6-3.
  14. Drives me crazy that they can't just bunt away from the shift. It reminds me of when people have those unwritten baseball rules like not bunting to break up a no hitter. If the guys unhittable you have to figure out a way to get on base anyway you can.
  15. The money ball thing worked for a bit until everyone else is doing it too. Small market teams have to be lucky to win and then the guys that pan out leave in a couple yrs and you have to start over. There is enough luck in it all that you're not guaranteed a title, but I find it hard to believe they can't get titles more often with lineups of all stars.
  16. Baseball needs to buck up and have a salary cap. I'm so tired of the season starting with only 1/3 of the teams with a realistic chance. The NFL had most of the teams this yr still in the playoff hunt with a couple weeks left and it's still crazy for Sundays games.
  17. That was really crazy how the warm nose stalled in that storm. I live just across from N Tacoma in Gig Harbor at 370' and we ended up with 17". Even a mile down the road from me it rained for hrs while we were still getting snow. About 5 miles North of my place in Olalla there was probably another 5 or 6". Never changed over in Port Orchard.
  18. As I get older I'm getting more tired of the rain and lack of snow in the sound. I will say I loved my yrs in Pullman going to WSU. The winters were great with more snow, less rain and more sun. However the springs were really cold, which might have been a positive since I was usually behind in my studies by that time and was forced to study more and drink less beer. But I do love my indie music. I live on a couple of acres and drive less than 30 minutes to see great bands for $20 which is very rare.
  19. That is not a bad idea. Just make a big gap at snoqualmie pass.
