The parallel model has really been spitting out some impressive runs.  Epic potential if it's correct.

Has the Parallel been any more accurate in the long range?

It does look nice at the end!

  2. Crystal Mountain temp was 34 with moderate rain.  Sloppy mess up there but people were still hitting the slopes.

First visit up there and curious if you need a snow park permit? Definitely going back for a gondola ride on a nice day!

No permit needed for upper A lot but new rules this year require at least four people in the car and is on a first come first serve basis.

Of course, you can park in the lower B or C lots and hop on their shuttle that takes you to the base.  https://www.crystalmountainresort.com/environmental-responsibility/carpool

  3. Well. I stayed up until 11 last night and he never emailed. Checked this morning and still no update.

Based on our first conversation that PNA looks dead on. Should speed up in timing though.

Didn't your buddy at the NWS give you a heads up about cold and snow coming in Feb, 2011 when nothing even remotely close was showing up in the models?  You were mocked on the Fox 12 blog but ultimately ended up being proven right??

  4. Dumping snow at Snoqualmie Summit... and crystal clear here. Up here it rained and then just ended and dried out with no transition back to snow. But Snoqualmie Pass might pick up a foot of snow just from the trailing c-zone.

Going to be way nicer up here today!

Good on you for not getting bummed out.  My inner weenie would be having a mini meltdown if I was up there and my hometown mountain received a foot of snow.  :)

  5. My wife and I were skiing at Whistler right up until the day of the opening ceremonies.  Although snow was lacking on the valley floor, conditions were reasonable on the hill with some cold sun and even a little bit of fresh pow.

The death of the Georgian athlete Nodar Kumaritashvil was the real downer.  He hit a pole at 89mph while on a practice run for the Skeleton Luge.

  6. Yup.  March 1989 was a thing of beauty.  Widespread 8 to 12 inch accumulations.

On March 1st 1989, the snow was supposed to quickly turn to rain but never did.  It was my Freshman year at Highline High and I would call Harry Wappler's weather line at KIRO News in-between classes in the school office eagerly awaiting for his updates. It was music to my ears after he admitted his forecast busted and the snow would continue through the night. The snow started sticking to the roads in the late afternoon leaving twelve inches behind the following morning.  Great event!
