  1. This really blows that the wider line is just missing to my sw! It’s about to rain now.
  2. Looking like Ottumwa area could get rocked.
  3. The south end could see some training per radar trends. Also currently some training in nw. Ia.
  4. The radar slightly reminds of 6-30-14, just not as severe yet.
  5. Don’t remember where I saw it, but it was mentioned it definitely could affect the trajectory of the future storms. Like James mentioned, there is redevelopment in nw. Iowa.
  6. Yeah I noticed. When I saw it surging southeast already in SD this morning I was afraid the best part of the line may end up going even south of me.
  7. DVN AFD: http://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/wx/afos/p.php?pil=AFDDVN&e=201907170847
  8. Wow, most of Iowa is in a slight risk area for today. The SPC probably is expecting that bowing cluster of storms in se. SD. to continue moving southeast across Ia. or something. Didn't take time to read their discussion. Areas along and north of hwy 30 even have a flash flood watch for tonight. We're really needing rain here. During the daytime the corn resembles pineapple.(Leaves are rolling up from moisture stress. https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/ PS. I got a whopping 0.03" of rain last eve.
  9. Saw one report of 2.45" somewhere near CR. That notification disappeared before I saw the location.
  10. Congrats to you CR folks on your nice rain storm! When I saw it blow up over CR I guessed Hawkeye, etc got at least an inch. Only a trace here so far as a nice cell crapped out just before it got here.
  11. I have a cousin from Miami that was visiting here on the 4th of July when it was quite warm and sultry. I told her this is about like their weather, but she said this is nothing and it's worse there. I would say it's just as bad in Iowa at times though, in the summer!
  12. Back to full sunshine now and feeling more humid than yesterday. Not much wind either. Should be more wind later this week during the hot spell.
  13. That would be awesome! Hopefully it verifies.
  14. I like green grass, but I don't care if I don't need to mow it for a change & in fact, I'm enjoying the break. The caveat.....Now I need to water the garden, etc. Brown grass means it's going dormant for now, and not dying unless there's no rain for 6 or more weeks. There are some pros and cons of these low clouds and light fog (haven't seen this in awhile) that moved in this morning, associated with 'Barry'. The pro is, it's keeping it cooler. The con is when we finally have our best shot at storms this week is it may prevent instability for late day storms.
  15. A nice cluster of storms now in nw. Iowa moved all the way from ne. Co. last evening and may be what areas of eastern Iowa along and n. of Hwy. 30, or n. of I-80 see later today? Wish it would be moving ese.
  16. I had a tiny ray of hope yesterday that it MIGHT bring us some rainfall here next week, but it’s looking less likely today. Also appears less likely than it had for any t. storm chances this wk.end in my neck of the woods with chances remaining over northern Iowa.
  17. 2012 really sucked in a lot of places! There was widespread severe drought that year & I think it was the hottest year on record in Iowa & probably many areas!
  18. So I guess this is it for rain chances from this system? NWS point forecast dropped my rain chances this evening from 60% to 10% now. What a joke. Oh well, wasn’t really expecting much anyway, but still was hoping....!
  19. My garden really needs a drink by now since I didn’t get the recent rains you got. But the rich black Iowa soils hold moisture much better/longer than in many states.
  20. In May we had to much rainfall, now not enough! Send some of your water my way!
