Felts Field dropped down to 18. The current dp is 21. The NWS has fog in the forecast. You'll likely be colder tomorrow morning.

Interesting, I didn’t realize that! I know places south of Lynnwood had some icing with massive icing the further south (and east I think) you got. We stayed all snow at my old location west of Smokey Point.
I was surprised he got ice rather than snow. Many areas got a decent snowfall with the storm. He is usually more likely to get snow. It was a strange storm.

Crazy, I wonder if this coming winter retains the -EPO pattern.

I remember one fairly quick icing event in my area and that might have been it! Couldn’t remember how regional it was. For some reason my weather memory between 2000 and 2005 is not there.
My brother lives in Granite Falls. He had a pretty significant ice storm in January 2012. He had to remove some trees that were permanently damaged. I'm not sure how widespread the ice storm was that year.

yeah we usually run 3-5 degrees lower than Felts for some reason back here near the Saltese
Felts Field is a bit of a banana belt.

D**n this looks like fun....
quick check the Anal logs
My paternal grandparents experienced February 1936 in the Minot area. The cold was far beyond intense, even by Minot's standards.

Places getting a little warmer than expected has nothing to do with “high” early November sun angles. The airmass just isn’t that cold.
Most of February 2019 had higher sun angles than today.
I said sun angles are still pretty high. I should have included a preface to my statement, when compared to December and January. Our current sun angle is more like early February. So, please excuse me for the omission. I made no statement about the air mass itself. All things being equal, it would likely be colder in December and January.

broke freezing out, 33
gunna go put some deicer on the driveway (it sits in the shade in the winter, oof) and hopefully melt some ice. Wind scoured out most of the snow off the drive
Felts Field is up to 36 after a low in the teens. The early November sun angle is still pretty high.

This little event has been rather enjoyable. I'm put in mind of 1988, 2000, and 2017. I definitely hope we transition into more of a normal November zonal pattern rather than a massive ridge. It would be wonderful to build a nice snowpack in the mountains and get the ski season off to a great start.

we still have fully green leaved deciduous trees here with snow and sub 30 temps at 2:30pm. so weird. they were the same trees that didn't get fully leafed until June this Spring
The trees are usually bare at this point. We're running a couple of weeks behind.

similar scene here, but I'm more exposed so more drifting
The heavier stuff is ending. It's becoming more showery, and the wind is starting to pick up from the NE.

Dang... I knew we should have moved to Bozeman!! Too bad it is so freaking expensive there!
This storm looks to royally screw the Sioux Falls area just enough where 95% of SD is covered in 3-5+ inches of snow while we barely get an inch. Track of the storm is just a few notches too far NNW. The bad snow luck I developed in Maple Valley appears to have followed me here. At least we will have the cold though.... I guess...
You're going to have many more opportunities. This is just the beginning.

What an interesting set up! It was cool to see some Western Oregon locations pick up some snowflakes.🌬❄

Some places in Europe the sun sets before 4 pm. In Sweden, where my brother moved to, it rises at 8:30 and sets at 3:30 in December.
Spokane has a sunset before 4 o'clock in early December.

November 2022 PNW weather Discussion. #NoRidgeNovember
in West of the Rockies
Posted
I remember posting on The Western Weather Forums back in 2007. I think my screen name was Purcell Trench or something like that. You and I had a bit of a tussle in 2009. I didn't post much after that. I joined the new forum in 2016 as snow drift. I posted here and there. You and I, for whatever reason, have never gotten along. I can't figure out what your problem is. I don't have any problem with you. If I have wronged you in the past, please forgive me. I just want to live at peace with everyone. I think I may mostly lurk from now on. I'll view the site solely for information, because it is such a great resource. I hope you have a great winter and you get a healthy dose of snow and cold. ❄🌬
