Looks like the ecology dept smoke forecast models are fairly accurate. About a week ago they called for another smoke intrusion Friday into Saturday and sure enough it is back. Not terrible though as AQIs are in the upper 40s to upper 50s.

-14 for the high today at SeaTac. Pretty impressive.

That continuous train of moisture is impressive. Some locations under it are up to and over an inch of rain.

AQI is back into the good category out here and appears to be slowly falling around Seattle as well. There will be a decent SW wind this afternoon per the ECMWF which should clear what is left out. Where do you find a smoke model that goes out through the weekend?
Here you go. The forecast is actually looking a little better. This morning it showed us back into orange by Friday.

Unfortunately the smoke did not get kicked out of here which I figured would be the case as smoke is notorious for sticking around much longer than modeled projections. Even more unfortunate is it looks like another round of thicker smoke is supposed to infiltrate the sound over Labor Day weekend

Non event now?
This is just practice for this winter’s epic model pullbacks right before events….

Looks like a decent amount of upper level wildfire smoke is mixing into this system coming through tonight and tomorrow. Not sure if it will inhibit thunderstorms forming.

Some of the set ups on the models have looked similar to the path the storms on 9/17/19 took…just right east of the sound over Seattle.
Was just thinking the same thing. 2019 were remnants of a hurricane and was unusually warm and wet with more instability than this probably will be but hoping I’m wrong.

Hopefully the rain today is putting a damper on some of the northern CA fires.
Currently driving from Redding to the redwoods and unfortunately the rain has been focused a little too far south east of where most all of the fires are. However, it is providing cloud cover and higher humidity. It is also drenching areas to the east that also look very dry.

Road tripping this week and currently in Jackson. After lots of heat and smoke finally have some good thunderstorms and currently pouring which rain falling over the gutters. Really miss this weather. Such a nice reprieve. Sitting out in the front porch of the rental getting rain blown and not caring one bit. Wife thinks I’m crazy though.

I have a son living in Ballard and another near UW campus and they say it's improved significantly. The new mayor has been instrumental in the effort.
I live in the area as well and I would agree. It’s still an issue and lot of people need help but it is better than it was then when I first moved back into the area in 2006. At least for NW Seattle.

We just got back from suncadia yesterday and they were doing a bunch of controlled burns north of there which were creating quite the plumes but probably not what some were seeing from the Puget sound area.

The Seattle area is currently above normal for precip so far in June. Granted with no rain on the horizon they will probably end a little below normal for the month.

Oh also, the wildlife is Washington coast times 50.

Was an amazing day out on the water in Alaska today. Everyone else was disappointed because it was too stormy to get to the best spots for fishing but from a weather perspective I always wanted to experience a good Alaskan storm along the coast and got it over the last few days (in the summer to boot). Huge swells, crashing waves, and driving rain/wind. The captain was wondering why I was was so enthralled and excited:)

Leaving tomorrow for a fishing trip in Alaska (Craig, Alaska) and it’s looking wet and windy unfortunately. I am looking forward to some more active weather in general.

He is a blessing to society. I assure you. And he is a mechanical engineer now. Also obsessed with a clean environment. And loves snow and cold. You are totally wrong and you would really like him.
What industry is he going into?

New month and I totally forgot about the new thread. 68F and absolutely gorgeous today.
Been posting less today because I have to make a confession…
I don’t play video games very often, and I’ve not been interested in a game in the Legend of Zelda franchise since Ocarina of Time.
Someone suggested I pick up this latest game they had made. And one of the few types of video games I enjoy are open world sandbox games where the player can go all over the place and complete missions whenever they want etc.
To say I’m absolutely floored by this new game of there is an understatement. I’ve not been pulled into a video game world like this since Red Dead 2 or maybe GTA V. I will play the game for 14 hours and it feels like an hour or so. I just get so beautifully errant in this game.
I seriously can’t believe this game is this good. I was borderline giving Zelda fans flack for obsessing over the franchise and then this game comes out…
Totally agree. Might be my favorite game ever. I got it about two years ago and still pick it up and play and explore areas. The scenery makes the game more relaxing for me. I just lent it to a friend so figure I won’t get it back for quite a while:)

It really is! And the swarming bees are super docile so they are fun to work with. I’ve never gotten around to building a proper swarm trap but it’s on my to-do list for one of these years.
The first time it happened I had no idea what was going on. I was on the phone out front and the buzzing got so loud I couldn’t hear the person on the phone. The side of the neighbors house was completely covered in bees. I thought it was a plague or something:)

I can't wait to get inside my beehives and see how much honey they end up storing this month. Going to be a record for sure.
Had a huge swarm came through the other day and inhabit one of the neighbors bee hives. It’s quite the site when it happens.
