Absolutely loving the weather out there tonight. It's 49F, raining, windy (I can hear the wind chimes) and all around stormy. It feels like an autumn or winter stormy evening.
Completely agree. Sitting out under the covered porch listening to the rain. One of the warmer season weather events I look most forward to.

I was working at the PCC on Aurora/Greenlake at the time. I snuck out to watch the whole thing in the parking lot. One of the best lightning storms I've ever witnessed. Intense, loud, closeby bolts of lightning. I was right in the epicenter. Still can't believe I didn't get fired...and I stayed another 2 years there!
I live in the same area and by far was the best lightning storm I have ever seen in these parts. I do remember another good one maybe in the early 2000s

We might have lost the 2011 comparison at this point.
Ya for sure. My point was more towards the reactions to the weather back then when it was cold and rainy for quite a while. Obviously the warmth has been winning the battle overall but I think there is hope in the fact that things will flip back from this current stretch of warm and dry weather just like it did from the cold and rainy weather. At least in the Puget sound region we have managed to keep up with average rainfall and the soil is still saturated.

These things ebb and flow it just takes longer these days in between ebbs and flows. It was just a month ago people were taking about the cold and rain possibly continuing through summer and comparing to 2011.

This weather will come back around. My guess is later June/July we will get back to cooler and wetter than normal. I have a feeling it will be a cold and rainy 4th compared to normal.

Might have some lightning to contend with on Monday afternoon.
Ya I noticed that. I don’t like golfing in the heat let alone the humidity on Monday. I wouldn’t mind some clouds and showers and a lightning show.

Nice bolt of lightning to the south!! Haven't seen that in a while.
Saw the same one from the deck. Too bad I missed it with my camera.

Normally that map would signify a lot of storms from the south or pineapple express pattern. Don’t see that sort of precip dispersement with the colder weather we have been having. Pretty interesting to see.

I feel pretty confident everywhere from BLI to EUG will hit 70 next week. It’s not hard to do at all at this point with even a little ridging.
Ya especially at SEA which usually tends to over-perform in those situations.

Interesting looks like SEA will break the record days in between last 70deg. If we get past late next weeks warm weather SEA could really pad that record.

I have a feeling we will see a lot of thunderstorms this summer especially compared to the last few summers which have not had many.

Crazy weather over in South Dakota. Currently a blizzard warning for up to 30” of snow and 55mph winds while next week highs in the 70s.

April troughing is okay. When we have nice breaks like we did last week it makes it feel pretty good. Some rain, some sun and I'm good.
The mountains are going to be picking up some good snow pack.
Gonna hit Rattlesnake Ledge tomorrow. A few weeks ago it was pretty icy near the top with some light snow falling. Probably picked up more snow today though.
Tim, how does the snow line look up your way?
Had a friend hike it yesterday and was in good shape. Tomorrow it is going to be covered in snow.

Dew Points remain below freezing the majority of the time. Your missing that
I’m sure there will be lots of snow in the air but is definitely borderline for accumulating snow over the next 7-10 days. Don’t get me wrong it will fun to track and watch but looks to be many nights of borderline snow that will lead to both surprises and lots of frustrating “if only it were a few degrees colder “ nights

Lots of potential next week but could also be a very tortuous week with lots of low to mid thirties rain/snow mix with nothing to show. In the end excited for the fun weather watching.

Looking forward to a stormy day today. Currently have a gale warning for 45-55 mph winds. The system on the satellite has a two barrel look to it similar to the failed wind storm earlier this season.

Precip in the past 24hrs...
2.43'' in Forks.
1.56'' of rain in Everett.
1.50'' in Hoquiam!
.57'' of rain in Seattle.
Soggy!
Snow levels are also dropping to pass levels.
I was surprised the difference as north seattle was over an inch of rain today while the south side of the city looked to only get a little more than a 1/2”.

You can see the eye of the storm on the radar.

I don’t remember the last time I saw both carkeek and golden gardens beaches
completely disappear.

Even with the long dry period this summer and fall, SEA looks to end the year just barely wetter than the yearly average. They will also likely end December wetter than average. They are still short on the water year but will be close to being above average after next week. Was surprised with how dry it has been in general in the northwest this year. NW Washington has been spared for the most part when it comes to lack of precip.

Looks like a bit of a convergence just north of Seattle. Starting to rain fairly decently.
