It does look like the sounds is now starting to fill in but I think it might just be for a brief period as this last batch of moisture is coming through then seems like it would lighten up.

I’ll say it is hard to be just on the south edge of the convergence for so long as well as too far north the southern stuff similar to a few weeks ago but the central sound should start filling in a little more.

HRRR has precip picking up in the central Sound again late this evening into early tomorrow morning. Not sure what it sees, but given the nebulous nature of this Arctic frontal boundary's precip shield, I would not discount such a development.
That cold air going out over the ocean acts like a lake effect and then gets wringed out in the convergences. I don’t know if models take that into affect but in the past they tend to underestimate it.

It is now lightly snowing here in north Seattle. All snow, was not expecting this!
Ya out of nowhere it went from a heavy mist to big flakes.

The gfs technically saw this thing first a long time ago before the other models came around so maybe it is the king if we end up getting cold and snow…or it’s most accurate 7+ days out

Yeah I’m confused as well.
I thought he was joking but maybe he was bothered by the Oregon posters responding to his posts with complaining and Cascadia’s comment was the last straw. I thought the comment from Cascadia was pretty funny.

I’ve posted this before but one of my favorite recorded events for me was February 2019.
It was dumping snow with 40-50 mph wind gusts and drifting snow.

Even if we get nothing out of this. We have been spoiled the last few years with having some fun model riding. We don’t even see periods of model runs like these every year so thankful for the fun we have already had with these and for the future runs we will still get.

I feel like deep cold arctic fronts have been more rare but the larger snowstorms have been more common over the years. This makes sense if long term we are getting warmer and wetter. Some of the events in recent years may have have been drier colder events but these days turn into warmer snowier events.

Leavenworth really getting hit hard with snow. Almost took the family over there yesterday on a whim before the snow hit but ended up not following through. Now I wish I could have experienced it.

I'm curious to know which part that needed clarification? They did said coldest week in 78 years of recordkeeping, followed by 6 straight days of measurable snow.
Maybe put dates in there. In the end not a big deal and still impressive to have a record cold week these days.

This makes much more sense.
Ya komo left that clarification out of theirs making it sound like the coldest week ever.

This may have already been brought up but have seen it mention the last week was the coldest week in 78 years of record keeping for Seattle? That can’t be right.

Not true but it could happen. Apparently to reduce the likelihood of going into a July, instead of a snow day, they'll do remote learning for a day.
Needless to say, my wife isn't happy.
They sent out an email to the parents that the last day of school was 7/5 and a ton of the parents were pissed. I just asked my wife and she said they came back and switched it to remote learning on snow days.

I assume schools will be closed here tomorrow because there is snow on the ground.
The Snoqualmie Valley school district goes through the same routine every year. Early in the season they are shut down happy. Then by later in the season they stay open through everything because they have run out of snow days. I remember driving my kids to school in a blizzard one year... 40 mph wind whipping snow around and roads snow covered but the district was worried about going to school until almost July.
Seattle schools already go till after the 4th of July this school year because of the teachers strike.

Really interesting to see some of the temps up north in Bellingham and down south in Tacoma currently reaching near 40 and this small are in central Puget Sound under heavy precip staying around freezing.

Long time lurker, first time poster. It’s been a blast learning from you all! Mostly back to snow now in Loyal Heights/Ballard. Sticking to cars and grass again after a long bout with heavy rain. Maybe we aren’t done with this after all! Now it will be really hard to get to sleep…
Welcome. The family and I hit up the loyal heights playfield all the time.
Starting to accumulate on the roads here.

Just looked out the window and saw some! Interesting how little precip there is on radar
Looks like there is a little something building on the east side of the Olympics that might come this way soon.

Looks like north Seattle’s turn is coming up now. Hope this stays stationary for a bit.
