  1. The UKMET is on the train. http://meteocentre.com/models/ukmet_amer_12/GZ_D5_PN_144_0000.gif
  2. Check out those east winds from the gorge! High temps below freezing from Wed to at least Friday for much of the western interior.
  3. It will stay in place, PDX wont lose the cold gorge east winds. H pressure still in Southern BC feeding cold air through. The Willamette Valley looks like it will get a nice snowstorm.
  4. It's going to be a race now of how fast the system gets to us before all the arctic cold air retreats.
  5. What's crazy is that even Southern California gets moisture as the cold air drops down to them. Actually all of the SW.
  6. Me too, who would of thought this time it could even be colder.
  7. Pretty close to snow? It will be windy because of the cold east winds.
  8. I can't believe what I'm seeing, 510 line to Portland by hour 159?
  9. This might be our snow producer for next week. http://wxweb.meteostar.com/leads_images/Models/GFS/CON/CP/large/surface/2014013100_CON_GFS_SFC_SLP_THK_PRECIP_WINDS_174.gif
  10. Arctic air is arriving but as of right now it's dry.
  11. Everything is in place next Thursday afternoon on the ECMWF. H in Southern BC and arctic cold in place. Just need to wait for a surface L to spin up. It has happened before. http://meteocentre.com/models/ecmwf_amer_00/GZ_PN_168_0000.gif
  12. It's never happened that I can recall.
  13. Anything can happen and it could very well be dry again but the more arctic air events you get, eventually moisture will finally collide with it to produce snow.
  14. Yes it is dry now but it will change. The precip we got in the NW this week wasn't forecasted by the models until the last minute.
  15. 00z ECMWF is not bad, gets arctic cold a week from now. We just need to wait for moisture for next week, still a long ways away. Models could bring moisture by then. Chances are we get moisture because we have had a few arctic blast in a row now with no moisture.
  16. As of now, 00z GFS gets entire region cold, then overrunning event. Vancouver BC will get a nice overrunning event and maybe even alot more, maybe Seattle too. Portland is kind of sketchy but they always have the gorge winds. It's still to far out too know for sure where the system will track. The next several model runs will be absolutely critical. I bet people living in Vancouver BC are getting excited now. http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sample.shtml?text=CYVR
  17. I just noticed something in the ECMWF that makes me believe tonights run will be the best yet. Stayed tuned..........
  18. Why would you want colder temps than that? In Dec 2008, PDX only dropped down to -10C. It's more important you get moisture and pull the gorge winds. We all saw PDX get -15C temps this past December with not much precip.
  19. 00z GFS ensembles are quite good however.
  20. It's not good compared to the ECMWF earlier and Canadian just now.
