  1. Yes, we have some snow and we should get more tomorrow (around 10 cm). It is however very mild right now with -1C, and we should get above 0C temperatures between Thursday and Saturday !
  2. Yukon and Alaska share the same trend of above normal temperatures. I don't know in Alaska, but in South Yukon we are also missing snow. Here are two pictures I took yesterday while having a 25 km run on the trails behind my home: http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t51.2885-15/928633_758848204198717_1187021447_n.jpg http://photos-h.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t51.2885-15/10891020_747487491996151_915726995_n.jpg That's not like this everywhere but snow depth is fluctuating between that and 20 cm in my area. It looks like, to be confirmed anyway, that cold could come back at the end of the month. Wait & See !
  3. -6.2/+2.0 today at my place. It even rained with 1 mm rain around lunch time !
  4. Pretty mild in South Yukon with at 6pm: Haines Junction +6 Champagne, Teslin Auto (mais Teslin Airport -1) +5 Whitehorse +4 Carcross +2 I still have -4C at my place (20 kms north of Whitehorse) but I will reach the zero bar tomorrow. This mild weather should keep on visiting us all this week!
  5. For running: head: a mask and a cap + a neck warmer body: three shirts (one short sleeves, two long) + a jacket hands: two pairs of gloves legs: two pants feet: two pairs of socks and that's okay! Now it has warmed up a lot and we may even get above 0C next week...
  6. We got down to -45 this morning in the territory, but it started to warm up in the south with temperatures above -30C right now at my place. This afternoon we got 1 cm snowfall by temperatures between -28 and -32, and temperatures will gradually go back to the -15C's in the following days. Some more snow to expect (5 cm?) between tonight and Thursday.

  10. Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season to the Community ! It looks like we may have some seasonal cold until the end of this week before it warms up again (again ...) with highs close or above 0C in Whitehorse starting Monday. Here are some pictures I took sooner this afternoon while having a run on the trails of the subdivision. During the run temperatures dropped from -14 to -18C: Fog patches: http://photos-g.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t51.2885-15/10724876_310690919142150_316946713_n.jpg The trail: http://photos-b.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t51.2885-15/10848199_774015922670905_896419221_n.jpg The Takhini River, still not completely frozen: http://photos-b.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t51.2885-15/10522219_1526779600935345_48146586_n.jpg

Wait & See! Talk soon http://forums.infoclimat.fr//public/style_emoticons/default/smile.png!
  12. We should organize a trip ! Whitehorse is not so extreme compared to Yellowknife or even in the Prairies. Pacific Ocean is just 100 km far away and influences a lot our weather up here. This morning I have -3C, which is not so bad. And even if we only have 5 1/2 hours of daylight, sky is clear enough 8 hours a day. And this means that in summer we have up to 19 hours of daylight ! Yes, that's correct, even if this year that's not perfect because winter has been so mild so far !
  13. Still mild here. After a short break on Friday and Saturday, wind from southeast is blowing up again and we got -1.4C this afternoon. Here are two pictures I took yesterday in Whitehorse, along the Yukon River: http://scontent-b-pao.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/10852733_1513885008864219_27429855_n.jpg http://photos-e.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/10832029_1376037689361964_1126221499_n.jpg
  14. Thanks Chris! In fact the wilderness is just behind my door. I have kilometers of trails in the woods behind the subdivision, Very mild presently in my place, it didn't freeze at all last night with temperatures rangind between 0.8 and 1.7C...

  16. Nice picture ! What's the forecast for your place? Here, should be far milder tomorrow (-2/-5C) before it cools down again. No cold snap for the next two weeks however...
  17. How much snow do you have on ground? Here are some pictures I took this afternoon while walking the dogs in my subdivision: http://scontent-b-sea.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/10817557_1523060571267509_98505408_n.jpg http://scontent-a-sea.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xfa1/t51.2885-15/10802752_354293851409970_953026405_n.jpg http://scontent-b-sea.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xaf1/t51.2885-15/10831975_606719692786960_915431774_n.jpg We now have 14 cm on ground.

  19. Yes I confirm that it is one of the reason I decided to settle here. And today I got my first -20C of the season, to celebrate this event I did two runs today ! Here are some pictures I took during my runs: This morning by -18C http://photos-f.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/10818070_767279890008717_741378267_n.jpg This afternoon by -23C: http://photos-d.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xap1/10787835_770135023053507_1552119966_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xaf1/10817770_820004868037736_676694418_n.jpg I really enjoy running when the air is crispy and the nature frozen! For upcoming days it should warm up a bit with some episodes of light snow. But tomorrow morning, we may get -30C at my place.
  20. Hi everybody, No change here: overcast (or mainly cloudy), low amplitude (in the -11/-15 range), light snow showers.... I miss the sun and colder temperatures. Anyway at least I have the opportunity to keep on running at 6:00 am without challenging difficulties. About the forecast, some light snow this evening, and "it should" clear up tomorrow during the day. I wrote should, while it has been days that models have blue sky in the their forecast, but it seems to be a moving target ! I am waiting for my first -25/-30C of the season.
  21. Yes, it seems it will cool down by the end of this week with, maybe, our first -20 and -25C, here in Whitehorse. In the meantime, this Monday has been sad, foggy and overcast with temps in the -11/-9 range.
  22. Hi Dylan, this is not as good as last year for the snow in Yukon! How is the winter so far in southern Alaska?
  23. Hi everybody ! I am Philippe and live in Whitehorse, Yukon. I am very happy to have discovered this forum, because I think it was missing. I come from France and I settled in the territory 5 1/2 years ago and still report our climate and weather conditions in a French forum ! I am then glad to do the same here and will try to share with you weather conditions and events in the Yukon! So far this winter season has been very mild in the territory. However this morning, Old Crow has been the cold spot in Canada with -39C. The coldest temp at my station has been -17C a week ago. We are however anticipating a drop in the temperatures with maybe with first -20C. That's never too late because rivers and lakes are not completely frozen or it is too thin to use them. I also have a weather station, feel free to visit! Here are some pictures from the past days: The Takhini River, just behind my home. This was this morning while going for a run: http://scontent-a-pao.cdninstagram.com/hphotos-xap1/t51.2885-15/10809885_406727086144864_198743276_n.jpg November 16, sunrise: the view from my house: http://photos-h.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xfp1/10735017_747639761991399_1448516044_n.jpg A picture taken on November 9, while the sun was playing with fog patches on Vista Rd: http://photos-h.ak.instagram.com/hphotos-ak-xfp1/1388785_1508584976061143_1931656536_n.jpg Talk to you later !
