  1. I feel like a sports fan clinging to the past and talking about the good old days right now but in meteorological terms.
  2. Another cool thing about Feb. 2019 is there was absolutely nothing exciting the whole winter prior to that, there wasn’t any exciting model riding that I can recall, and we were all ready to stick forks in that winter and then it probably did the biggest 180 ever and delivered like I never could have imagined.
  3. Every time I look back at my camera roll to February 2019 I’m just mesmerized at the amount of snow we had, especially on the last day when the wet snow just kept piling up.
  4. February 2019 is the greatest stretch of snow and cold I have witnessed in my lifetime. Was about five days shorter than 2008 but we got about 5 more inches of snow total. Our snow depth peaked at 17” in Mill Creek before it turned to rain on the 12th.
  5. That flooding rain event in Jan. 2009 was super memorable up here and just made that stretch of weather even more historic and memorable. 2nd highest crest the Snohomish River at Snohomish has ever recorded. The Snohomish River valley turned into a lake which was insane. That actually happened in 2006 as well, pretty crazy that out of the three or four times that River has flooded that badly two of them happened in a stretch of 4 years.
  6. Pretty cool thing about this winter is there was almost always something to model ride for (minus the period from late December to late January which was a snooze fest). We’ve had winters where there’s maybe a couple periods of model riding and that’s it. We had stuff to watch from late October to late December basically nonstop, and then from late January to March basically nonstop. Obviously a bummer that things didn’t turn out as good as they could have, but at least we were entertained for most of the winter.
  7. 36F and still a little foggy with cloudy skies overhead. Very peaceful conditions.
  8. There was also the thunderstorms in September 2013 that delayed the Seahawks 49ers SNF game. I remember hearing some epic cracks of thunder that evening
  9. I’ve moved 5 times in my life and haven’t gone out of the Everett/Snohomish area! From Mukilteo to Snohomish to Mill Creek to north Bothell then Lynnwood and now my first home purchase here in Everett! I’m excited to branch out a bit next time I buy a place lol. Everett is somewhat similar to Arlington/Stanwood as it has quite a few different area codes. My place in Mill Creek was technically an Everett address even though it was only a couple miles from the actual main town of Mill Creek.
  10. That was so fun. I was at work but I just remember going by the front windows with my coworkers and watching the show. It was nonstop lightning for 30 mins. Never seen anything like it!
  11. Seeing a lot of posts from Facebook community pages that roads in Snohomish county are super icy and people are seeing cars in ditches, not surprising, lots of wet snow and melting snow from today. 31F currently.
  12. A couple more hours to think cold and snow then it's on to sun and warmth
  13. Last view picture of the day.. WOW, prettiest view of Pilchuck and surrounding mountains I’ve seen since I moved here last April. The sun shining on the snow during sunset is gorgeous.
  14. I set some rules with my wife for the next home we buy: above 500 feet and/or east of I-5 and between Lynnwood and the Snohomish/Skagit border. I feel like that’s not too much to ask
  15. Today’s view of Mt. Pilchuck featuring some snow here at home too! Have about an inch in grassy areas, added to the quarter inch this morning puts me at 9” for the season. Just need one more inch for my 5th consecutive 10”+ winter.
  16. It has officially stopped snowing at home right as I get off work! It’s over! really though that’s cool it snowed the whole entire day. At least grassy surfaces will be nice and snowy for a bit.
  17. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it expand eastward towards King/Sno county line or a little south of that.
  18. Looks like the CZ is finally starting to die off on the north side, looks like it might want to rebuild to the south
  19. Remarkably persistent CZ. Still snowing moderately at home. Expecting grassy surfaces to have a couple inches out of this. Hoping it persists long enough to experience it a bit when I’m off work in an hour but with my luck lately I doubt it lol
  20. As it has continued to snow, we have lost all the snow on the traffic light pole, and we’re losing snow on the dirt and grass. I don’t understand how that can happen while it’s snowing
  21. It’s so painful watching it snow moderately all day just to see it not accumulate at all
  22. Somehow as it’s continued to snow all morning it looks like we’re losing more snow than we’re gaining
