February Weather in the Pacific Northwest
Esquimalt replied to Deweydog's topic in West of the Rockies
Also, the GEM has deballed the Friday system. The NAM has sort of done the same (looks like for 3 hrs of precipitation for many areas). Hopefully this isn't a trend. -

Not liking the look of the GFS. Much warmer and wetter for next week. A good mountain snow pattern but not good for us lowlanders. -

Counts for today are as follows: Esquimalt: 3-4 inches Oak Bay/UVIC: 4-5 inches Point Roberts/Tswassen: 5-7 inches Pretty impressive up here. Hopefully you guys will get a share of it too. Light snow still coming down here at 32. -

Yep almost 5 cm here at the Oak Bay Saanich border. Incredible precip rates. Just keeps coming. Brings back memories of Feb 6, 2017. -

Looks like the western edge is moving further east. I thought that the Nam said the precipitation here could go on until 8:00. -

Don't worry it was like that at first here. Now we've accumulated about 1.5 inches in an hour and a half. I think I may have lower amounts at my house in Esquimalt because the band here looks heavier than the one over my house (currently near the Saanich Oak Bay border) -

Steady light snow here. Approximate accumulation of 1/2 inch, none on the roads, all on grass. -

The snow is significantly heavier currently. Big flakes. No accumulation yet, but should be good considering the current conditions. Wasn't the bulk of the precip not to hit until 5:00 or 6:00? -

Currently snowing lightly here. No accumulation for some reason. -

Not much in the way of snow falling here, even though we're directly under the band. Just too dry at the moment -

Heavy snow continues to be reported in Tofino. Quite amazing because this system looked able to only make light to moderate snowfall. I guess this shows otherwise. -

The Clown Range on the GFS is a joke. Widespread snow throughout the lowlands. If only.... -

Where did you move from? -

Or moving out of the PNW into Montana or Wyoming or something. I mean western Washington, BC and Oregon, especially the lowlands were certainly not made for snow lovers. -

Well I'm sure you know what you signed up for moving to this s**thole. I know that in a few years I'm getting out of here, because I know how you feel man. Always being deprived is a pretty horrible feeling, and living where I do, even when snow is predicted it often comes down as rain or nothing falls. Get over it, it's just where we live. I hate to say it but that's part of living in the PNW. We'll get our time though. Mark my words. -

What's wrong with this airmass in your opinion? -

If it makes people feel any better, looks like there may be a March 1st snowstorm (shown on the GFS). -

I have to agree with Tim. I think that if you're above 1000 feet elevation you will certainly get a good dump of snow. Sea level may be a little more difficult, especially late Saturday. Too bad, but still time for change. I'm still very optimistic about Friday and Sunday. Saturday at the moment just isn't looking very promising. -

Victoria gets ripped off again, as usual. Totally pathetic. -

I think that will be good enough, as long as precipitation rates stay up. I wouldn't worry. -

Same with the ICON. Lower snowfall totals for much of Oregon. -

The GFS precipitation shield is looking further north on this run by maybe a couple of dozen miles. I'm happy for the northern folks, including myself. Hoping for a surprise! -

The NAM is looking like a step backwards. The low is further offshore.
