  1. Clown range of the GFS gets ridiculous lol. -28 temp anomalies throughout all of BC, just crazy and not going to happen.
  2. GEM looking less like a gem. Too bad. Both GEM and GFS have everything shifted a little east which makes the difference tonight.
  3. Everything is shifted a tad east on the 00Z GFS. Nothing too serious but it makes the temps go up 1 or 2 degrees. We'll have to see how the rest of the run plays out.
  4. Yep each model run shows some very heavy precipitation right around the low. If the northerly winds pick up prior to the precipitation moving out of the region, you could get some pretty nice snowfall.
  5. What do you think of our snow chances after Sunday?
  6. 18Z Icon showing heavy precipitation associated with the Sunday low hitting the Nanaimo area and moving south east. The main low is further west and slightly deeper.
  7. It's starting to indicate an area of heavier snow directly over downtown/Oak Bay/Esquimalt and View Royal, very similar to the Feb 6th, 2017 event. I wonder why?
  8. Just looks better than the patterns in that time frame in previous GFS runs. Lots of cold air in the north of BC.
  9. Wow. GFS at hour 240 is truly incredible on the 500mb level!!
  10. Low at hour 204 on the GFS looks stronger on this run. Still rain for most areas but looks like cold maritime air with 850s at around -5 to -10 C.
  11. Dunno how to. A widespread 6 to 8 inches throughout the sound and Vancouver Island, including Victoria. Portland has approximately 4 inches. Many people have 8 to 10 inches, especially if on higher terrain. I know that the GEM overdoes snowfall, but this is looking very promising.
  12. GEM looking awesome with a coastal slider. A good 12 hours of light to moderate snowfall with this one.
  13. Yep it's looking better. Alaska ridge is a bit fatter at hour 144 on this one though. Hopefully it doesn't extend too east.
  14. What does this pattern mean for us in the PNW? More cooler than normal temperatures, without the arctic air I assume?
  15. The 18Z GFS is coming in stronger and colder with the Sunday system, which could translate to more snow for many.
  16. Yeah remember the February 6th 2017 event? I got 12 cm at my place due to those convective bands.
  17. The GEM has started as well. Looks chilly for the next week, but not much in the way of snow with Sunday's arctic front. Snow map at hour 240 sure is eye candy though
  18. Weirdly the rain seems to be moving out of the Victoria area. In fact, the airport is reporting mostly cloudy and 41 , while Vancouver reports 33 and snow. Perhaps a secondary band will move through the Victoria region later? The models seemed to indicate the precipitation ending tomorrow.
  19. Check this article out: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2017/10/26/down-hundreds-of-staff-weather-service-teetering-on-the-brink-of-failure-labor-union-says/?utm_term=.655ebbae2b09 Truly pathetic.
  20. It's just not great. A lot of the time it's a lot of cold rain. Sure there are a couple of good events, but temps this run seem quite a bit warmer.
  21. Yeah pray to God that this 18Z is an anomaly. If it isn't...well I don't wanna go into that.
