  1. We had a high school kid die here in Omaha during football practice a couple of weeks ago. Tough weather for sure
  2. I saw a post on Twitter from a hurricane guy showing the upper level patterns and that it’s showing a potential hyper active hurricane threat coming up towards the 1st of September.
  3. We only had .07” up here on the north side of town. Winds were gusty but no damage.
  4. Only .15” over the weekend in MBY. Grass is definitely browning up. Chased yesterday in SoDak and had a great time. Amazing structure, big hail, and a tornado warning on a storm that tried really hard but the RFD was too strong. Will post some pics later. Meanwhile another day in paradise
  5. 17 days into the month and it's rained exactly 2x here. Thankfully it was a good soaking of almost 2", but it's been dry otherwise. The NAM is looking very interesting for severe weather in SE SoDak and NW Iowa on Friday...
  6. More flooding video including people trapped in an elevator with water up to their necks!
  7. Ended up with 1.92” of rain yesterday. .42” from morning storms and 1.5” last night’s storms.
  8. Saw a report of 2.08” in 30 minutes in southwest Omaha too.
  9. Oh boy. Here it comes, again!!
  10. Stats from my backyard for July Avg low: 66.6 (-1.4) Avg hi: 87.7 (-.4) Precip: 6.20" (+2.65") Coldest low: 56.3 (12th) Warmest hi: 96.4 (28th) 2 severe tstorm watches, 5 days with heat advisories, 2 days with Flash Flood watches. Had powerful storms move thru just after midnight the night of the 9th with a wind gust of 96 mph at the airport and over 190k people without power at one point. Power took 8 days to fully restore.
  11. Ended up at 1.48” last night so 2.85” total the last 48 hours. Had a couple lightning strikes that made the power flash too. Somehow ended up with 6.2” of rain this month and the grass was still turning brown before this last event.
  12. Super heavy tstorm right now. My rain gauge had nearly 3”/hr rates and I already have .6” of rain in 15 minutes so far
  13. woke up to a surprise tstorm this morning and a couple of the loudest booms I've heard in a long time from my house. Absolutely dumped rain for a while. That's a good thing, bc I'm not too sure how much we will end up getting from tonight's rains based on model trends. Received 1.37" of rain in about an hour and a half. These cells weren't very big either, so a lot of town missed out unfortunately.
  14. The 0Z CAMs shifted the heaviest axis back northeast of Omaha too for the most part. Hope it’s not a trend. I held off watering this entire week once Friday looked like a good chance of decent rain.
  15. Hit 93.6/82.4 a bit ago with a heat index of 117
  16. Crikey! I think this might be my highest dew I’ve recorded on my station
  17. 96.1 here with a heat index of 111. Hit 114 a bit ago!
  18. And the Arctic is warming 3x faster than the rest of the planet. And the planet as a whole is warming. And there weren't 7+ BILLION people on this rock before. And what is the "agenda" again?
