  1. My heavens everyone’s so bristly. I forgot there’s so little humor here. My bad.
  2. So,- Do you guys think this global warming thing has been postponed? I’m very curious how this will be spun. One thing certain, it’s way too cold too early for Texas. This is January styled weather for us.
  3. 34*. Wind gusting 25+ Ice on the radar about 15-20 miles west. Earliest ice I recall was a Thanksgiving around 1995. If I recall correctly.
  4. Dropped to 38. Wind picking up to 25mph. Scattered light rain about and ice further west.
  5. Front Hit about 11am. We're down 20* to 42*. Wind has picked up to 10-15 mph. This baby is just getting wound up.
  6. Thankfully they were slowing down. Definitely unnerving.
  7. I'm expecting the leaves to get shredded off from the wind. I've been enjoying the color but fear much will be gone in the morning. A 40* drop is seen here. It isn't uncommon but not this early to my memory. I'm wondering if this is a preview of Texas and Oklahoma's winter? Look chilly up there.
  8. 62*! But taking the fast lane down to 24* and up to 50 mph wind gusts! This is what we call a Blue Norther and it's only about 2 months early. I mean, Wha? Only a 30% chance of rain. Button up!
  9. We're braced for it. Gusts to 50 mph tomorrow and a low of 35* McAllen will get a real surprise! Far too early for this.
  10. High of 65 tomorrow before turning sharply to 35*. Winds 25-35 mph. 50% chance of rain. Winds gusts to 50 mph. Low Monday night 25*. The front everyone has been excited about will have no trouble plowing into the heart of Texas.
  11. This will be a stunner of a front for November. The National Weather Service is predicting that about 250 cold records will be established from the impact of this front. Wow.
  12. Our second front will role through Monday. High 49....Low 28*....our first hard freeze... Rain Tuesday is a repeat with a High of 44* and Low of 28* Cloudy Wednesday - Sunny and 49* Some very chilly weather coming down Texas-way!
  13. First front has pushed through. Rain has stopped for now. Received .75" my location, others just NW received 2". It's dropped o 42*. Feels like 39* Low will likely be around 39-40*.
  14. Don't you guys think that this Fall to Winter jog is throwing many models and forecasters off balance? We are, after all, at GSM and the big cool down is underway. Many don't accept this and are soldiering on.
  15. Temps dropping in North Tx. We're at 58*. Rain till afternoon. Then cloudy We'll drop to 38* tonight. Monday the Norther blows in and we'll be seeing highs in the 30's. A little early for that freezer or us. I might add that lows Monday and Tuesday will be 28*.
  16. Some winter snow forecast links from Robert Felix. Pretty doggone amazing for early November, wouldn't you say? 12 feet of snow for SW Greenland; 7 ft Andes; 7 ft Gulf of Alaska; 5 ft Kamchatka; 5 ft Pyrenees Mtns; 5 ft Pakistan; 4 ft on the Alps. Who was it that said children wouldn’t ever again get to see snow? 10 day forecast : 5 feet of snow, Pyrenees Mtns https://www.windy.com/42.862/-0.536?snowAccu,42.937,0.330,9 4 feet on the Alps: https://www.windy.com/45.951/7.927?snowAccu,45.539,7.185,8 12 feet SW Greenland: https://www.windy.com/63.889/-41.056?snowAccu,63.295,-37.332,7 7 feet Andes : https://www.windy.com/-49.817/-73.586?snowAccu,-50.969,-67.720,7 7 feet Gulf of Alaska https://www.windy.com/60.229/-139.471?snowAccu,59.319,-138.724,7 5 feet Kamchatka https://www.windy.com/52.585/158.036?snowAccu,52.794,159.104, 5 feet Pakistan https://www.windy.com/33.569/74.707?snowAccu,33.509,80.519,7
  17. Hitting 72* today with gusty winds. 10-15 mph. Humidity 76%. Feels like Houston in January ugh. The big weather story will be the strong cold front that will move across North Texas Thursday morning. Areas of rain and a few thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front Wednesday evening and overspread the region Thursday morning. It will be into DFW shortly after sunrise with falling temperatures and a gusty north wind. We'll drop roughly 25 to 28 * tomorrow afternoon but temps will remain in the 60's overnight. And you thought you had it weird!
  18. In time, Felix will be exonerated. He's been tracking this trend for 20 yrs at least. People laughed at him. They said he was an extremist and a fringe climate nut. Well, don't look now, but the big guys in climate study have joined the conversation. It's gonna get colder.
  19. Another slightly warmish morning with thick fog. Lots of rain coming in over the next 2 days. That's okay with us. Temps in the 60's, overcast.
  20. I thought I'd post this here as a morale booster. Norway is seeing historic snowfall. Beating a 1922 record early. This is from Ice Age Now and Robert Felix Historical snow amounts in Norway November 4, 2019 More snow on the way, and temperatures down to minus 29 degrees. SNOW: 56 cm (almost 2 ft) of snow in Tromsø on Sunday morning. Only once in the last 97 years has there been more snow on November 3 in Tromsø, says state meteorologist Sjur Wergeland. The snow amounts are historical for November. In 2006, 67 cm of snow was measured on November 3. The next top listing was in 1922. At that time 59 cm were measured on November 3.
  21. Lots and lots of cloud cover for the next 3 days. Thick fog this morning and 62*. Rain tomorrow and Thursday. Not much change in temps. It's an Election Day here today, so lots of potential change on the horizon. We have new machines in many counties that will provide a paper trail. If it's an Election Day for you, remember to vote.
  22. Time will tell. We're at the low of Solar Cycle 24 and the first little spot of a young Cycle 25 has popped up. 25 will still be a low spot cycle like 24, so the GSM cycle has probably begun.
  23. Yes indeed. However, mid continent quakes are unusual. If these are not fracking related, then it's odd to see them grouped like this.
  24. I posted this in the Solar thread, but readers will find this interesting here if they missed it. It's all connected. https://watchers.news/2018/03/30/study-suggests-modern-grand-solar-minimum-in-2020-2053/ (Video accompanying) "We verify the extrapolated activity curve by the pre-telescope observations of large sunspots with naked eye, by comparing the observed and simulated butterfly diagrams for Maunder Minimum (MM), by a maximum of the terrestrial temperature and extremely intense terrestrial auroras seen in the past grand cycle occurred in 14-16 centuries. We confirm the occurrence of upcoming Modern grand minimum in 2020-2053, which will have a shorter duration (3 cycles) and, thus, higher solar activity compared to MM. We argue that Sporer minimum (1450-1550) derived from the increased abundances of isotopes 14C and 10Be is likely produced by a strong increase of the terrestrial background radiation caused by the galactic cosmic rays of powerful supernovae."
  25. https://www.kansascity.com/news/state/kansas/article236963833.html No comments as to cause, be it fracking, drilling, or natural, but it is unusual.
