  1. Same here, absolutely sparkling day here now. 78* This is a textbook Spring afternoon!
  2. The first Mars Quake was recorded launching Martian Seismolgy as a legitimate field of study. It also establishes Mars as an active planet and not just a dead sphere. Turn sound up for the recorded quake. https://phys.org/news/2019-04-marsquake-tremor-red-planet.html
  3. Started the day with a pea souper of a fog. 55* headed for a Sunny 83*. If my allergies are any measure of the spring and summer (a wet one) ahead, I better stock up on meds. Usually our hot dry Texas summers kill off a lot of allergens, but....if Tom's right, we'll have a misery index instead of a heat index.
  4. Another 1.41" of rain today.....that's 4.41" over the last 24 hrs. Not bad.
  5. Texas confirmed the model last night. 3" of rain here. Heavy downpours, plenty of lightning. We got the full treatment. More on the way today.
  6. Thunderstorms tonight and mañana. Some will be severe but hail should limit itself to pea size. The DFW area will, see 1-2", while further east and south will get the full treatment at 2-4". Hey, it's Spring. PS.....Uhhhh, is it time to change the banner??
  7. And the opportunism continues. "Experts" jumping on the latest political trend to gain traction.........and grants. We can update this to say------ "2019....the coming ice age."
  8. That's the mystery. Hopefully reasearch will establish the real science behind this. It's fun to speculate though.
  9. That 3 month outlook for the Southern Plains is crazy. More rain will be nice though. Is there a Year that compares to this ? Can pass on those severe t'storms though, Tom.
  10. Amazing pics Sparky! Glad you had some fun. We were thrilled the hail didn't manifest here and avoided our area. But the lightning and thunder was pretty radical. We're at 60*. Breezy at 15-20 mph. I'm happy to live adventurously through you guys on the Plains up there!
  11. We had a high of 85* yesterday, but the front will hold temps down to 70-71* today. Much drier air. Lots of thunder and wild lightning last night. Received ~.50" rain. Wind threw off my rain gauge. Locally they're reporting about the same, generally. The storm was not the nightmare that mets were calling for for north Texas. I think they were let down that there wasn't all this destruction. All the Gulf instability slid east. Fine with me.
  12. Catching sarcasm on the internet is like tasting and enjoying a great meal. It ain't gonna happen. Meanwhile, this morning is like swimming in the Gulf. The air is very heavy. All it needs is a little help and someone will get pounded, which will happen this afternoon between 4 and 6 till midnight. They're still calling for areas of golfball to baseball sized hail. So don't need that. Currently 68* and low heavy clouds. No rain.
  13. Funny thing about Texas weather is with the Gulf air, and the collision with dry lines and or cold air, even I could give you a two day alert. But Texas weather is trickier for forecasters not practiced in its personality. We've had a heavy influx of moist Gulf air for 2 days. Cool but sticky. And quite blustery. The dry line should hit late afternoon and we have a forecast for winds up to 70 mph, hail, possible tornados. I think the threat of tornados will increase as it approaches or passes Dallas. Ft. Worth is higher in elevation than Dallas just enough to make it interesting. Temps tomorrow High of 81*. Low of 59*. Man, I don't want to replace a roof this year.
  14. That's as the day begins that morning. Winds will pick up today/Tuesday. We get these days a lot too. The storm will hit 40-60 mph. We're waiting to hear the tornado profile. We're in that time of year until August. Pretty average. West of Dallas has been lucky thus far. The severe weather appears to be tracking in east Texas.
  15. I'll take a below normal, as normal usually contains a week of 100* days and no rain. The pocket of cool is a mystery, but I'll take it my friend! One thought however, will that cool pocket collide with the warmth and give us severe storms? I recall a summer like this back around 1980ish.
  16. We have another front moving in on Wednesday. Tomorrow will be 76 and a low of 66. However, a high of 81 on Wednesday will collide with the front west of Ft. Worth and we will be square in a severe storm warning. The risk will escalate as it hits and passes Dallas. High winds @ 30 mph, hail, and heavy rain will be the order of the afternoon.
  17. High of 70* today. Gorgeous The golfers were practically in a traffic jam out on the 7th and 8th fairway. Everyone in the spirit of the Masters, I guess.
  18. 51*. Crystal clear blue skies! Just a beautiful Palm Sunday. Dewpoint 40 Humidity 65...it's cool, though we can handle it. Wildflowers? Well, you tell me. Bluebonnets have gone amuck this year.
  19. 2.56". Localized flooding. Our golf course looked like a swamp. It was an awesome thing to watch. Just a classic Low that we get on occasion that slowly swirls its way across the state. I've experienced these things all my life and they have so much energy in them you can feel it on your skin. You become restless, and pace around the the house. It wasn't until the leading coil passed that I felt I could settle down. The back edge was calmer as if it had expended its energy overall. We had some fatalities in the state from a tree hitting a house but I was amazed we did not have tornados spawning from it. Much as it does with tropical or hurricanes. We needed the rain and this was an awesome day! So, Question: will this trend vanish, or will our hurricane season be busy in the Gulf?
  20. Well, DFW is about to kiss the back side of this Low. It's been swinging around all afternoon and finally getting here. I doubt it will have the water or punch of this morning but it's been quite a day. Hope Okwx is fine. Louisiana is getting plenty of rain. It is early for this. It's also odd to see such a well formed low appear in April and move at a snails pace. But then again, it hasn't been a typical transitional season, has it?
  21. A station near me is reporting 2.18" so far. Golf course is like a lake. The eye of this low is passing over us, but we might get more with afternoon warming. It's come down in buckets. Some hail reported east of me as it winds up. Odd looking hail.
  22. In a word, Rain. And lots of it. Wave after wave of heavy downpours with high winds. 25-30mph. This system is picking up steam as the day warms and it moves toward Louisiana. At this writing I've received 1.2" of rain, and it's just winding up for the largest wave. Temp 56*.
  23. This is not to be confused with a different singularity! But it’s earth shattering news none the less.
  24. No.Tx will have some heavy rain move through Fri night through Sat. I haven’t heard firm total forecast but some suggest an inch of rain. Well, it IS Spring.
