Is Fred going nostalgic? Black Hole. Haven't seen that name in a while. Like since the days of the Atmospheric Wraith.

The fact the GFS was SOOOO bad, showing features that were never hinted or suggested previously, makes it easier to ignore.
Then again, outliers can turn into the first run of a major change.
GFS will need an entire day or two to see if a fly got in the ointment or if the model is surprisingly prophetic.

We lost the GFS, Euro, and either the UK or GEM for about two days with about a week to go for February 2019.
We have lost all of them at least once each time it snows.

All three major Seattle TV news websites are now forecasting snow to start Thursday night and for temps to fall into the low 20's.
What is happening

Kinda crazy how nobody cares to just educate along with having fun on this forum lmao
This is flat out wrong. Some people seem to think this is some sort of hand holding meteorologic class. It's just a weather forum, but if you ask a question someone will answer it. IT's just not going to be spelled out for you. There are too many microclimates, and too many opinions.

I was going to mention that, but I didn't want it to seem that I was trying to explain away a pullback with technicalities. BUT. You are right, and the hundreds who are lurking and trying to make sense of this. The 00z and the 12z runs are considered to be more accurate. This is why the 18z is often referred to derisively as the "drunk uncle" or something similar.
This is true with this GFS 18z and it would also be true if the same run was wildly better.
So a step back, but a step back with the least reliable model run is the least concerning step back. (Does that make sense? Is it confusing enough to put me in charge of making graphics for the NWS? lol)

Just got off the conference call. This is going to be a BLI to OLM event.
Not too late for OR folks to hop on Zillow and try to close on some property up north before it starts.
Nah, just get a VRBO rental and enjoy the winter weather.

Michael Snyder says it’s time to get excited!!
I had the urge to go get all my off-island errands done today and it's obvious nobody is thinking about snow. Costco was even calm.
None of them know they're all about to freeze to death.

I wasn't a model nerd back then, but is 2008 an exception to that rule? And you would think that would change with time and all these upgrades.
This is what I was thinking. 2008 was pretty consistent leading up to the event, both with little waffling as well as model agreement. But that was a long time ago, I might be wrong.

Certainly not for the central Puget Sound folks. I'm not interested in just cold.
The shadowing is real in many of these runs.
...and probably overstated. Also too early to worry about that. Can't get the white stuff without the cold.

Some of the newer people don’t really get his humor…but Andrew does know what he’s talking about and is very knowledgeable with a healthy dose of trolling and dramatics.
I am not new. Not nearly. I don't post often but I have been here for many years. I just do not get your humor very often @SilverFallsAndrew , but to each their own.

I wasn't "doing" anything, I was just commenting on a catastrophic GFS run.
In all fairness you kind of only half way comment quite often. Leave a disappointing statement and then mic drop without any explanation.

He is stating a fact. 12z was a massive step back at face value. Looks to be caving to the CMC ensembles.
His may be fact this time, but so is my statement. I just don't understand trolling.

Yikes another big step back. This is starting to look like a non event south of the border.
Why do you do that? I'm curious. You post slightly to mainly misleading statements all the time.

Unfortunately I won't be here for this run as I have to take my Cat to the vet for a check-up. Yeah. Fun stuff.
At least she cleaned her butt first.
