It would take several systems to scour out PDX as every storm would pull in more bitter low level cold.
Maybe the ridge could trend stronger? We just need that ridge connection, and also if the Aleutian ridge merged that big block would be back in play. Really need the EPS to be similar.- 4

850s PDX -14c, The Dalles -22c. It's a dry run as the arctic air is focused a bit further east, but the low level cold with east winds will keep PDX in the freezer. Then we wait for moisture.

Yeah strong east winds pulled in cold air.
