12z EPS is out to hour 240 or so
Interestingly the ensembles are way wetter than even the operational for the period centered around 3/1

Euro and GEM continues to show much more precip for Salem south than the GFS for next week

Wind kept up most the night here, barely touched 32 just after midnight
Clouding up, breezy and 37 now

Will need to see how quickly we leave La Niña, and how the West-Pacific Warm Pool evolves, but statistically I think a warm summer is favored, with warmer anomalies focused later in the season, as opposed to last year.
But anything from a 2015-like blowtorch, to a more 2019-like mild/wet regime, is possible assuming La Niña/-ENSO base state doesn’t hold on (and I don’t think it will).
Thoughts on the sun coming up tomorrow ?

Euro coming in very wet kind of interesting to see the typical mid winter progression of continental air followed by an AR in late Feb/early March

18z ensembles looking decent. Some cool troughing following the upcoming wet period. Could be a signal for another wet period showing up for the second week of March too

Even 20 this morning. Looks like 24 at PDX, one away from their record.
Also their coldest temp of the winter, 25 was the best they could do back on January 1st

Low of 21 here, coldest of this event and of the winter
Still a skiff of snow from yesterday morning in shaded areas

39/27 day here about 3/4” morning snow giving way to mostly sunny skies by afternoon. Third consecutive sub-40 high here could be heading for a cold one tonight with light winds and clear skies

Looks like a sixth below average March in a row may be in the cards. Pretty interesting how Feb and March cooled in the 1991-20 averages compared to 1981-10, while every other month warmed. Have to wonder whether it’s just weird luck or if our climo is trending towards later winters.
It’s Feb 24. Looks like Corvallis put up a 42/25 today after a 39/20 yesterday pretty nice late season airmass did you get any snow this morning

Possibly, but I'm not sure. We got close to -10 850s and I don't think we've been colder than that since Jan 2017. Feb 2018 is possible. It's pretty tough to get to -10 850s here in any scenario.
Yeah -10c is relatively rare for anywhere west of the mountains maybe until you get up to Whatcom county or so

The reverse jinx works a lot here, esp in terms of snow. It's still the coldest airmass we've seen in over 5 years.
Sure it does id have to check on that their might have been comparable airmasses down there at 850mb that just weren’t as good for radiational cooling

Tonight should be pretty cold again for many areas if it clears out

That was last night.
Oh I see thought you meant your low for the winter
Two lows in the teens pretty good considering you were thinking you wouldn’t go below 35 for this event

This bumps my season total close to 6” there were so many little snowfalls the last week of December it was hard to keep track biggest events were 1.5” with the anafront on 12/18-19 and 2” on 12/28

PNW February 2022 - Winters Last Stand

No question the climate is warming you can look at literally any chart and it shows our annual average temperature creeping up over the decades. Hard to understand how anyone could still deny this, how many record or near record warm years have PDX and SEA seen in the last ten? Or Record or near record warm months vs record cool. Looking at the whole picture not just isolated winter weather events
