Some good looking 12z runs. Nice to see the Euro and GFS start to align a bit on us getting some decent stratiform precip down this way on Thursday. Only 48 hours out now.

Has to be right. I’ve never known him to embellish.

What a nice day. 69/61 spread. First sub-70 high since 6/20. Morning drizzle then mostly cloudy all afternoon. Even some drizzle in spots this evening now as an added treat. Just incredibly refreshing and pleasant out. Especially with the rest of the week looking really nice too.

At least not the triggering ones!

12z EPS looks pretty promising for this pattern change having a bit more staying power than anything we’ve really seen the past 3-4 months.

The line of clearing eating away at the marine layer offshore is interesting, on this satellite loop. Can’t quite remember seeing anything like that before. Looks like the 12z Euro redeems itself a bit by being much wetter over the long weekend.

12z Euro is washed out trash for the Thursday system down here. Hopefully it makes a comeback on the next run. Last nights 00z was pretty good.

Really hoping the Euro still shows something similar. Should find out in the next few frames.

Cloudy and drizzly here, with the marine layer all the way up to the Cascade crest. Reminds me of the olden days. Looks like PDX has picked up 0.03” this morning in drizzle. About the same here. Currently 63 after a low of 61.

The pattern change looks great, but all of these last 90+ day/last day of summer posts could look pretty silly when the troughy pattern passes (it will) in 7-10 days and we’re sitting under another big ridge. At very least it will probably be less smoky at that point, heaven wiling. 86/60 day here today. A little cooler but essentially a repeat of the last four days in terms of sky conditions. An ugly smoky haze with some scattered clouds here and there.

Surprised me how cool temps are down the valley as well, on the hour. Just 73 at EUG, 76 at SLE, 78 at MMV. Seems a decent Swrly marine push is taking hold.

PDX running -7 compared to yesterday. Still a little early to say but they may be on track to avoid 90 for once.

Weather round up for the past few days. Ended up with a 92/62 yesterday, hot with hazy and smoky skies and large pyrocumulus from the Camp Creek fire visible to the east at times. Low of 60 this morning, now 72, hazy and partly cloudy. Maybe a notch or two cooler today than yesterday, then temps move more decidedly downhill going into the work week.

If these runs verify then it’s countdown time until the rain complaints/anxiety outpace all heat complaints this summer by about a hundred-fold. I see it’s already starting…

That would be a 50 degree rain pattern for the lowlands. Which honestly does sound really nice right now.

Appreciate it. I’m sure the warmth/sadism mafia will get a hearty chuckle from this, but this summer has been especially depressing in a lot of ways.

We had one of our most extreme heat waves on record just a few weeks ago.

12z GFS shows the nightmare ending soon. Hopefully not just stringing us along.
