  1. Guys so I just got a weathermodels.com subscription. @AcerWe about to be neighbors!
  2. Right nothing better than a low stalling during an arctic outbreak.
  3. Yeah thats right. I knew it was sometime early last decade. The unexpected ice storm came the following year.
  4. I think it was January 2010 when run after run models were forecasting a huge snow storm for Washington. Arctic air was already in place and a low was going to pass to our south drawing in more cold air and spewing moisture over the area. Unfortunately when the event drew closer, models shifted and it moved up the coast into Canada and warmed up us. Point being models can change in an instant. If it doesn't look good now, it might tomorrow or the next run. I think the optimism is warranted because with the ongoing SSW and disruption of the polar vortex, we just don't know what's going to happen. Models can flip in an instant. History shows this could be something good.
  5. Do you think models are still struggling with the polar vortex disruption? If so I think this next week will be telling
  6. With the polar vortex now disrupted, let's see if we see a major shift in the models.
  7. Lol was just going to post that. The new GFS is the new king right? ❄ ❄
  8. Alright alright let me try this again. I was off by a year earlier lol. This was taken the day of the Super Bowl 2017. The measurement made the front page of a KOMO news story. There's nothing like heavy snow at night. I hope it happens again soon! ❄
  9. Is that why it's so warm? Surface temps near 60 in Portland and mid 50s in the I5 corridor... Yuck
  10. Good times right there. Nothing like watch the game and the Radar. I know I have pictures, but can't seem to find them. So here's a pic of a couple weeks later dated 2/18 Perhaps this year can be similar with multiple events but more extreme? I'm encouraged.
  11. Not to mention we haven't had a Nina this strong in almost 10 years.
  12. I wonder what surface temps that would be. I'll take lows in the teens and sub-freezing highs please.
  13. I remember a storm when I was a kid, maybe it was Dec 95 or Feb 96, that went south at the last second and missed Seattle. Seattle missed out, but scored south of Seattle. I don't remember amounts, I just know I got 2 or 3 snow days out of it.
  14. Mind if I get the snow map? Glad everyone else is missing out on Winter too...
  15. Good sign. She wants you to go buy a snow blower or something to remove the feet of snow we're expecting.
  16. I'm excited for the Euro to start showing the good stuff within the next week.
  17. Meh I don't care what hour it is it's just nice to see some arctic air build in Canada.
  18. 18z GFSv16 - Some snow in interior down to Oregon.
  19. The GFSv16 is replacing the GFS right? 18z of the GFSv16 looks good for snow 10 days out. Local images not available for this model
