  1. It's quite choppy, but you can see the heavier rain over Duvall and eastern Snoho County throughout the day! It's been pretty light, mostly dry here all day after some showers in the morning. Wind died down too. Pretty incredible 'dream' if it was snow, lol! Pretty strong rainshadow to the NE of the Olympics throughout the day. It breaks down a bit, but comes right back again.
  2. Gosh I wish I was RIGHT there enjoying the weather. Would love to watch the storms come in and see the waves.
  3. Hear me out. This year felt like our climate was more continental. Hot summer, cold, frigid winter, snow, ice storm, strong wind storms. It feels like the past two years have been more continental than our actual climactic type. hah.
  4. WIND STORM UPDATE That storm moved right on up the Coast as expected last night and I woke up in the dark to some blustery winds. Still pretty gusty here. Neat to see it come to fruition. The storm did knock out power to pretty much every coastal county in Oregon, but in smaller numbers. Roughly 4,000 up and down the coast. Just a few outages in Jefferson and Clallam Counties in Washington. Gusts ranged from 20-40mph depending on location. Coos Bay saw 38mph gusts just outside of town, Brookings 31mph, Bandon 32mph, Lincoln City saw 22mph, Garibaldi 29mph, Reedsport 29mph, Astoria 32mph. In Washington Westport hit 38mph, Aberdeen saw 35mph, Quillayute 30mph, Neah Bay 35mph, Oak Harbor 31mph, Everett 40mph, Mukilteo 40mph Port Gamble 40mph, Bainbridge 29mph, Camano Island 30mph, Seattle 36mph, Green Lake 27mph, Newcastle 38mph, Renton 32mph, SeaTac 33mph, Tacoma Narrows 37mph, Bellingham 29mph, Cherry Point, 32mph, and so on and so forth. No one talked about this storm, not even the media leading up to it. It didn't have as big a punch to Oregon, but arguably more to the North Puget Sound. It wasn't disappointing like the storm earlier in the week in that that one didn't meet expectations outside of Oregon. The positive here is this one did far less damage, but still have some pretty strong gusts.
  5. Wind gusts are hitting the central and southern Oregon coast right now! Already seeing gusts in the 40s with 50s likely later. Already 400 new people are out of power within Coos County. This wind will progressively get stronger until the early morning hours of Friday when it shifts to the Washington Coast and sputters in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Chances of strong gusts for the North Sound are diminishing.
  6. The wind storm event I was talking about yesterday is beginning to make blow into Oregon's southern and central coast. It ramps up later tonight, but swells are already increasing with sustained 10-18mph winds around Lincoln City. Here was a live shot from their camera less then a minute ago. Gusts will start get in the 30-50mph range in the coming hours.
  7. Oregon Oregon remains with outages in Josephine, Clackamas, Washington and Yamhill Counties. Pretty slow going, especially for those PDX metro counties. A huge fix occurred this afternoon for Tillamook County. 15,000 residents got their power back within the past few hours and now only ones and twos remain fixing. Still around 17-20k without power in Oregon. As posted above, another round of gusty winds is going to hit the Oregon Coast Thursday night and into Friday. This could further compound areas still dealing with outages or just punch people back into the dark again... Washington Power outages are all fixed in Washington State. Crew finally fixed the Snoqualmie outage which was quite significant. They had crews in helicopters looking for the issue and finally fixed it. Lots of trees and branches down. The outages from BC and California mentioned yesterday are all dealt with. Humbolt County has power again in California after dealing with the wind storm and the earthquake. Some spotty outages in BC around Langley and on Vancouver Island still, but most have power again.
  8. Storm front coming in tomorrow could cause some strong wind gusts along Oregon's southern coast! There will be a first hit early in the morning, but the stronger hit will be Thursday night, and into Friday. This will effect the Washington Coast going into early Friday morning as winds howl up the Chehalis Gap. By around 5am, the Peninsula and Strait could see strong gusts and it could effect coastal areas of the North Puget Sound. Possibly 30-40mph gusts. It should calm down by mid morning and be back to normal completely by noon. These winds, especially for Oregon, could impact the region yet again, such as Tillamook County which has just recently got their power back, and Josephine County which is still struggling to get power back. The first batch of wind hits late Thursday, after 10pm. The Washington Coast gets it's turn around midnight and into the early hours. Winds and gusts remain for the Oregon Coast as well. Things slow down for Oregon and now focus on the Olympic Peninsula. Winds could travel through the straight and make for a gusty early morning for Skagit, Whatcom, and Snohomish Counties. Depending on localized wind travel, it could be gusty for all of Clallam, Jefferson, and Kitsap Counties. The strongest gusts will end by the time most people actually wake up and by 9am, it should be mostly all calm.
  9. The King Tides have been pretty amazing this past week. I went to go look at some of the aftermath myself and it's shocking how high the tides got. On a different note, we actually still have power outages still. The most in the country are still in Oregon. The majority is still around Portland with over 15,000 in Multnomah, Washington, and Yamhill Counties without power still. Tillamook County took the brunt of the wind storm and there hasn't been much progress. Still over 10,000 without power in the county. Clatsop who had a ton of outages have pretty much gotten everyone back online. Strangely in southern Oregon, we still have over 3,000 without power in Josephine County. Strangely the coastal southern Oregon counties don't seem to have people without power, but this inland county does. KOBI-TV 5 from Medford is reporting the outages were due to the storm and trees knocking out power. They also report at one time, there were over 55,000 without power in Southern Oregon. For Washington, King County is the hotbed because as reported last night, the Snoqualmie area is without power and remains without power, STILL. We're coming up on 24hrs soon. Roughly 15,000 effected.
  10. Power Outage Updates Oregon PGE Outage numbers have dropped again, from 65k to 52,800! It keeps shrinking. The majority of the populace without power is still centrally around Portland and the suburbs directly east and west of the city. Statewide, Oregon is around 90,000 without power. The majority of outages outside of the Portland metro counties are Clatsop, Tillamook, Linn, Coos, and Josephine Counties. Washington PSE outages are also dipping, now down to 16,500. A large swath or area around Snoqualmie is out, including a large area around Yelm. The northern area of Vashon Island is seeing outages and the isolated island of Guemes Island is also seeing an outage. Hopefully that one gets fixed for the residents of this remote dot. Statewide, Washington has 27,000 without power, and the number is dropping. Pierce County and Thurston County have fixed a majority of their outages. The majority are in King County and Clark County now. Skagit County is now reporting some outages as well, but under a 1,000. British Columbia has outages mostly on Vancouver Island, but thankfully, the population mostly doesn't live facing the open waters of the Pacific. Most of the outages are around Victoria, west of Victoria, and a smaller number in Vancouver's metro. At least for the outages around Vancouver, BC Hydro expects power to be back by 4:30am. It is also highly possible Port Renfrew is without power, but BC Hydro isn't certain. California has roughly 14,000 without power in Northern California and this number has remained constant all day. It might be related to the earthquake that shook Humbolt County earlier last week. Shocking if they still haven't got power working for most yet.
  11. The differences in such short distances was pretty shocking!
  12. I charged my phone and tablet as well. Hey, at least they are all charged and ready to go. Always better to be prepared.
  13. NWS had a tough job and held off longer than anyone. Thanks for posting those tweets above @CliffMassYelledAtMe!
  14. Strong winds could return with the next few rounds of storms. First on Thursday, the Oregon Coast, especially the southend, could see strong wind gusts. The next system on Friday, we have a chance of strong wind gusts blowing the Washington Coast and moving in through the Chehalis Gap. It could effect the South Sound. But there are still a ways out there.
  15. The wind storm was an absolute nothing burger for the Puget Sound as said earlier in the day. We can count that as a blessing, especially for all the coastal areas of the Puget Sound which are dealing with King Tides right now. It was impressive to watch and view but of course the downsides are the damage. I hope the damage and outages along the coast and in Oregon is dealt with quickly. It was amazing to watch it's build up. It was not-nothing for that region. Seeing the videos and images of the storm making landfall was just a reminder of how powerful nature is. Good news is, PGE, the largest power authority in Oregon, has seen their total number of customers effected drop from over 100,000 now dip to 64,000! Let's see it be zero soon!
  16. Precip in the past 24hrs... 2.43'' in Forks. 1.56'' of rain in Everett. 1.50'' in Hoquiam! .57'' of rain in Seattle. Soggy! Snow levels are also dropping to pass levels.
  17. Watching a local tv news channel on one screen and the first ten minutes have been nothing about the wind storm. They've only been talking about the King Tides and all the flooding it has done. I guess they consider the storm a bust in their eyes since this particular channel was promoting it all day yesterday and this morning and now nothing before their first commercial.
  18. Power Outage numbers.... OREGON - 125,000 The majority of the outages are in NW Oregon, with Tillamook and Clatsop County taking the brunt of the losses. Portland metro has many outages as well. It has gone up from the 117,000 a few hours ago. The outages carry over into Clark County on the Washington side. WASHINGTON Not many outages reported yet, but the majority seem to be from Thurston County, Pierce County, and Kitsap County. There is also a decent amount in King County too. Snohomish PUD is looking pretty good right now as is Skagit and Whatcom Counties. Minimal. Totally random aside... An 18.4 foot King Tide broke the 1987 record of 17.99 feet in Olympia. Wow!
  19. Rain has stopped according to the radar and the Westport cam along part of the Washington Coast. They've been getting soaked on for awhile now.
  20. I had that about ten minutes ago. It just dumped! You can kind of see it on the radar for us both! A very heavy band just sort of appeared. Stay dry. That red area also dumped/is dumping on poor ole' @MossMan
  21. It's a non-storm so far for the Puget Sound region in terms of wind. It's nothing we haven't seen already this year for sure. The positive is, less storm damage and less people without power. So that's a positive.
  22. We have reached peak wind storm hours till the early morning hours. Still pretty tame out there. Strongest winds are still from earlier hours. Still the strongest gust in the puget Sound I see is a 44 at Tacoma Narrows. There was a 41 at SeaTac. Some gusty winds in the foothills. The strongest gust I can find north of Seattle is Edmonds at 29. Skagit County which is open to the harsh winds of the Strait saw a gust of 39 near the PACCAR research and training facility. Ault Field on Whidbey had a gust of 41. Nothing else hit even 20mph yet north of Anacortes. Away from the Sound, Dungeness Spit had a 41mph gust and Port Angeles 36. If you want some REAL wind gusts, all that is happening east of the Cascades! We got a 50mph gust in the Klickitat Valley, a 55 near Kennewick, a 49 in Walla Walla, and a 73 on Pikes Peak near Walla Walla. That last one is kinda cheating because it's a mountain peak though. But since I am talking about mountain peaks, there was a 72 in Yakima County on Sedge Ridge.
  23. Thank you! So many great new sources to look at and add to my ever expanding weather-related websites.
  24. For anyone who wants to watch the live Westport cam, here is a link. I reference it a lot, not sure I've ever actually posted the link. lol. https://www.experiencewestport.com/live-westport-webcam
