  1. I've never been there but I keep seeing tv ads for Quinault Beach Resort with these very tempting weekday offers that include dining vouchers. One night stay with $50 dollar food and gaming credit (if you gamble) for $159. That seems like a pretty decent offer. Again, I have never been there, so I don't know. Website I've also been tempted to rent a cabin at Seabrook because the town looks really neat. I've also never stayed there, but it's a bit spendy. I've stayed at a few hotels/motels in Ocean Shores and Westport, as well as camped. They are pretty decent and with off-season pricing you can find stuff around $100 bucks, maybe a bit under. I always aim for the free breakfasts too! The best places to have hotels facing the open ocean and getting the full brunt of the storm would be Ocean Shores over Westport. The hotels in Westport are more protected than the open water facing hotels of Ocean Shores... though personally I find Westport more interesting a place to visit. Good luck!
  2. Some very significant winds throughout the region right now. Very strong 40-50mph gusts along the Oregon Coast from Gold Beach to Ocean Shores, WA. 60mph gusts around the Olympic Mtns and decent 30mph gusts through the Hood Canal. The North Sound is seeing strong winds varying from 30-50mph gusts ranging from about Everett, through Whidbey Island, and up to Whatcom County. Vancouver Island and the Straight of Georgia is seeing powerful gusts as well, frmom 30mph to 60mph gusts. Some of the strongest being at Mount **** on Texada Island in British Columbia, just west of Halfmoon Bay. Possibly a 60+mph gust there. This Everett Courthouse Camera shows downtown and you can slightly see the massive storm from moving into the Puget South and the variation of clouds from brighter to pitch black. Note the American flag practically straight on the pole blowing like mad. Winds are coming in from the southwest and blowing northward.
  3. Amazing what a night does. Yesterday was 25F degrees and everything was covered in snow. Today it is wet and windy and 47F.
  4. Starting to get quite breezy and gusty here. Had a gust of 18mph. Sustained winds around 6-10mph here around the port at Everett. Didn't expect wind.
  5. Last batch for tonight. EVERETT Currently 38F degrees in Everett tonight with some light rain. Main city streets have been plowed and smaller residential streets are being plowed Overall, just snow left on grass and roofs depending on location. VANCOUVER BC A cold fog has rolled in over parts of Vancouver. The city is sitting at 39F with wet main roads, but snow still on the ground and in residential areas. PORTLAND Portland is wet a chilly 30F, somehow staying colder than much of the western region. The Multnomah Valley is remaining cold, thanks to an outflow from the Columbia Gorge. It is raining, but depending on the location it might be a wintery mix.
  6. WESTPORT Things are looking cold and wet. This is from the live Westport Watch Cam. How cute, they are wishing us a Merry Christmas. Currently 47F at Westport with heavy rain and very strong winds. Coastal flooding is expected as it also happens to be the King Tides!! Screen Recording 2022-12-24 at 12.57.19 AM.mov BELLINGHAM Things are looking peaceful in Bellingham. Still a frozen 31F at the Bham Downtown Tower Cam. SPOKANE Currently 12F here in Spokane. It looks like a peaceful night in the city, but drivers be warned of black ice... or just ice in general. Wind chill has the temps feel as if they are in the single digits!
  7. Currently 39F at my place. Snow is still there, but it is less than before. Roads appear just wet now. Things are looking pretty showery with some wintery mix on the Eve of Santa's big journey. He's gonna be cold across much of the US. Good thing he has a big beard.
  8. Only though Granite Falls. Darrington access is closed. If you plan to go, be sure to check for the latest info though, because various things can temporarily close the road. They did have a plow clearing the road for the few people who live along this stretch of scenic American byway. This link is up to date with current road closures in Snohomish County. https://snoco-gis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=15578784822345459c008d66ed1253ab
  9. Semi-Ghost town of Silverton, Washington is beautiful! Deep snow! No 4x4 needed (though it would probably be smarter, lol)
  10. Things look empty and wet in Seattle. Guess no one is working downtown today. Vancouver looks snowy!! Snow is still falling in Spokane. Side streets are all snow and ice, but I-90 looks clear. Roads look very busy in Spokane today. 130046665_ScreenRecording2022-12-23at1_34_11PM.mov
  11. It's look snowy and frigid from the Downtown Bellingham Tower camera! Ice forming on the camera face alert! Currently 28F at the camera's location.
  12. Happy Christmas Eve Eve to everyone. <---Christmas Island Flag. No sleet or ice rain where I was. Just snow. I'm thankfully done working and not leaving the house today, just relaxing. Avoiding all the nutso things. Few friends said they had some frozen rain in Kirkland, Duvall, and elsewhere. None said it seemed that bad though... so who knows? Things are quite spotty around the region with the bulk of the storm having done its business.
  13. Anyone know what happened to @Gradient Keeper? Usually they'd be all over talking about weather systems like this. I haven't seen them since Tuesday!
  14. I just learned what virga is. Thanks. New word in the vocabulary!
  15. That is pretty wild. I hope the cold moves away for ya. Not sure if this helps in anyway...
  16. God bless em' but darn.... Everett City snow plows are already tearing up all the beautiful new snow that covered up the roads. Two just drove by pushing it all to the side. Dang... Not snowing anymore. No ice/sleet as of yet.
  17. Okay, last radar map gifs from me tonight. I'm going to sleep. Have a great night all. There appears to be a dry zone from Everett to Seattle and it aims diagonally through the Puget Sound currently. The majority of Washington's Inland Empire is being snowed on. It's getting closer to Spokane minute by minute. Temperatures are mostly in the single digits are below zero. A complete winter mix and mess throughout PDX. Temperatures have remained cold in the region.
  18. Can confirm an earlier post I made tonight, San Juan County is completely without power. The entire county made up of islands is black. All 15,000 plus residents have no power on any of the islands. The power authority there says it isn't a power issue on the islands, but an issue with the power supply coming from Puget Sound Energy. This is a pretty horrifying thing to be stranded on the islands with no power anywhere. It is 26F at Friday Harbor and 26F at Lopez Village. Eastsound is at 21F.
  19. Snohomish County PUD is fixing outages. A large chunk in the notoriously outage prone Lynnwood area has been put back online. Some outages east in Snohomish have been repaired as well as a few in Arlington. Gold Bar, Sultan, and Index remain the same with the number of outages. The total number of outages has dropped by a little over 100.
  20. It stopped snowing about 2 minutes ago, but we got a very nice new layer of clean white snow over everything including the roads. I can't tell how deep though. Within the past ten minutes, it's become quite gusty and you can see fresh powdered snow blowing around and swirling.
  21. Some updates on power outages. Roughly 852 outages in Grays Harbor County. Around 15 people in Clallam County in a remote area around Ozette Lake or Oil City. An area that is open to strong Pacific Ocean winds right now. No outages in Jefferson County or Mason County. That sums up the Olympic Peninsula environs. Puget Sound Energy is at 6,300 people without power. All to the east and in the mountains. Snohomish County PUD is reporting 2,600 people without power. The same as an hour ago. Pierce County and Thurston County are both at 15 without power. No power outages in Skagit and Whatcom County which is rather surprising. San Juan County has 644 without power. Clark County has 500 without power while Cowlitz has zero without power. Lewis County has nearly 1,500 without power. Eastern Washington is seeing minor outages in Yakima and Stevens Counties.
