  1. We had a drought one year that hurt our spruce forests. That encouraged spruce beetles, which proved too much for spruce trees and killed them. Then we got lightning fires. That lost us close to 6 million acres of forests. Our sea ice is also retreating, which is really hard on polar bears. Alaskan natives have been seeing polar bears swimming out at sea where it will be too far for them to avoid drowning. The polar bears don’t have enough territory on land for all the ones displaced from sea ice territories. They are crowding into villages looking for food. It gets depressing hearing climate change deniers. I can’t imagine what it will take to convince anybody who has missed what is happening around us already. Since climate change effects are going to keep getting worse, at some point it ought to get through to them. I fear it will be too late to stop climate change by then.
