  1. The official H/L at GRR yesterday was 70/58. That high was cooler then areas near the lake shore but in line to areas to the east of GR. Ionia reported a high of just 65. Hillsdale reported a high of 69. Lansing had a high between reporting hours of 74 (just) 73 during a reporting hour. Mt Pleasant reported a high of 72. And here at my house the high was 73. But at the lake shore reports of highs in the upper 70’s and some 80’s were reported that may have been helped by down slopping. For today September 18th the average H/L at Grand Rapids is 72/52 the record high was 94 way back in 1906 the record low was 35 set in 1973. The warmest minimum was 69 set in 1942 the record coldest maximum was 55 in 1901. Last year the H/L was 83/64

BTW if it makes it into the mid 80’s on Friday it would be a top 15 for that date we shall see.

  10. Here is some information on the storm that went thru the Grand Rapids area Tornado sirens went off in metro Grand Rapids Wednesday night as a strong storm rushed through the area, prompting a tornado warning. The warning for Kent and Ionia counties has been allowed to expire, though one is now in effect in Eaton County until 9 p.m. The National Weather Service says it seems like a tornado may have actually been on the tornado on the ground near Lowell, though we’re still waiting on confirmation of that. The storm is moving east quickly at about 50 mph. The National Weather Service reports wind gusts of up to 53 miles in metro Grand Rapids, as well as trees down and power out. WOOD TV8 has been getting reports of downed trees and black traffic lights, as well as construction barrels blowing across highways. The latest is that 38,000 with out power in Grand Rapids

And I will add two more from my days at Bay City April 3rd 1975 14.4” and how about the ice storm on March 1-2 1976? The 1965, 1973, 1974, 1975 the 1976 ice storm and both 1978 and 1976 storms all had high winds (out of the NE) and lots of thunder and lightning.

With lows in the mid and upper 30's in northern lower Michigan this morning and this has happened before this early fall as well, just goes to show you just how cold Michigan really can get even in the warm season.
  24. Just 0.02" of rain here at my house. Even less at the GR airport where just 0.01" was reported. The thunderstorm drought continues as well as for the summer of 2019 there where just 17 thunder events at GRR. Have clear skies and a current temperature of 58 here at my house. While it happens ever year there is now some color on the Maple trees some yellow on some of the other trees in this area, Note that doesn't mean there will be a early color as this happens almost every year around this time.
