I grew up in Whitefish, and back then it was a much different town, to say the least, what it's become now is great in its own way though. It is such a nice area, amazing lakes, valleys, mountains, a lot of cool people and a great climate.

Often I regret moving here. Now it would be pretty difficult to move back to Montana as most of my life is built here in oregon, but maybe if it works out I'll move back to Montana in a few years.

Sunriver absolutely kicks asss. Probably the only upscale high elevation community in the state. You have super easy access to Mt. Bachelor and are only minutes away from probably the most geologically interesting area of the country, Newberry Crater. Sunriver has great bike paths and is close by to many lakes, rivers, and some terrific fishing. Plus it gets tons of snow. I've been there many times. I've seen pics where the snow is up to 6 feet deep. What's not to like? It is super expensive, but if you've got your roots planted there, you're in great shape.

I broke, abstained for 4+ months but just legit just chugged a liter of grey goose. 😭 I’m a failure

Grey Goose is pretty yummy. From my many years of alcohol consumption, I've found that quality vodka is definitely easier on the hangovers than cheap asss shitt.

That's a heck of a fence. Nice craftsmanship.

How precisely precise is it? Hovering around the same temperature here, which isn't very common during the Winter unless we're under southerly flow.

Thank you. I had a helper that specializes in watching youtube videos about how to fix just about anything. It was super helpful. As far as my super duper weather station goes, it is accurate to within ~3 degrees fahrenheit.

The eastern sides of Flathead and Lake Counties have the only WWAs in the CONUS right now.

I've been to Whitefish a couple of times, but not recently. A really cool fun little town. There was a bar with axe throwing and really cool people. We closed out the place and they let us take a few pitchers of beer for the road while we were walking back to our rooms. Good memories and a sweet winter climate.

Mount Seymour in NorthVancouver has a base depth of 0”. Mount Washington on Vancouver Island has a base of 7”.  Mount Washington is capable of recording over 700” on a season.

I stopped by the sno park that I usually snowmobile at on Christmas. I posted a pic of the snow there a few pages back. There was maybe 6" there at that time. It has since melted out. There really isn't any snow at all in the Oregon cascades at the pass level. Incredibly disappointing.

Does anyone here remember a poster by the name of Richard?

He was really good tracking the cold air apparently.  I couldn't understand most of what he posted, much like what Phil posts.  I'm not really weather smart and it all just sounds like someone who is talking in code.

I bet Richard could tell us if the cold air gets to us in a week or so.

Would be nice to have something to track for a week or so before we move into Spring.

I think his name was Richard Mann. I could be wrong though. His posts were a bit cryptic and hard to follow, at least for me. But he was usually on track with his regional forecasts.

I think that's a relatively fair assessment honestly, but I've noticed Jesse has made big strides in some areas. No one is perfect and he can still improve with the drama. I hate drama. I see no reason, no sense, no point to any of it. 🤷‍♂️

I would love some critique of myself lol. What do you or others like or dislike that I do, or don't do.... etc, etc....

You are one of my favorite posters and you definitely don't ever stir the pot. I love that I can just come to the forum on most winter days to see the model charts being posted rather than look them up myself. My only critique is that you always disappear when a winter event happens. Yes, I know you run a facebook weather group, but it would nice if you would pop in for a bit when the going is good.

Not really much lowland potential, but the pattern is still worlds better than what we've seen the past month, and would be pretty chilly at the surface. Your west side location would struggle to get out of the mid-30s for days.

We need some godddamn snow in the mountains. The ski resorts are melting.

Never said I didn’t. Literally said I wasn’t perfect, show me a regular poster here who is. 😂 But I’ve tried pretty hard to improve as well. Eliminate the nasty personal attacks and engaging in pages long preferences battles. It’s all relative I guess. Also, to anyone who actually takes reacts seriously, all I can really do is laugh. And even if you do, I upvote way more comments than the other way around. It’s not even close. At this point it’s more a reputation thing than anything. But I definitely have to own that too.

Hope you have a Happy New Year!

Just to let you know, I don't dislike you at all in any way. I really do appreciate your pics from the forests and hikes in the gorge that you frequently take. I'll also admit that your weather knowledge is greater than mine. It's just that you LOVE drama. That could be improved on going forth as a friendly suggestion.

I haven’t been able to access my old account for a couple years, for the record. I think Fred banned it into the Stone Age. Besides that I don’t have any others.

Anyway, probably 95% of my posts these days are weather related. And I ignore multiple attempts by others to stir up sh*t with me on a weekly basis. I’m definitely still not perfect, but I hope most here can see I’ve tried pretty hard to clean up my act for the most part.

Not that I give a shiiit, but you constantly try to subtly try to stir shittt up. Usually with some sneaky little comments you feel the need to throw in your posts or the constant weiners and downvotes you dish out. I've learned to grow a thick skin after being here for almost a decade so it doesn't bother me at all. Just don't pretend you don't stir the pot.

We are in Eugene today since we attended the Thievery Corporation concert last night, amazing show by the way. Eating at the Lion and Owl Rest and it’s just light rain at the moment and 50F? I think lol.

Welcome to Eugene. I hope you like warm semi damp airmasses because that's what we got. It's raining at the passes too. Lumps of coal for everyone.

Ridgefield is the fastest growing city in the state since 2010. Just experiencing the same free-for-sprawl that East Vancouver saw from the 1970s to 2010s, only now extending outward in a different direction from the city. Battle Ground has been in the same boat, and La Center probably isn't far behind. We're just in a perfect storm situation down here, having no state income tax, being within commuting distance of Portland with no sales tax, and landing outside of their UGB restrictions with plenty of available land. The WFH culture and Portland's recent decay have only accelerated that,  as housing demand here has gone to 11 and the market has been pretty resilient even in the face of the high interest rates.

I lost a bunch of cash in La Center in the late 90's playing blackjack. I'm pretty sure I was cheated. I lived in the Salmon Crick area at the time. Oh, and it didn't snow once there when I lived there.

Looks like we got another 60F burger here so we will have another major double digit positive temp departure which is the new normal. For every like 15 of those we get 1 double digit negative temp departure anymore.

In the chilly realm of Dave's backyard, we only managed a 56 burger. Time to put on the long johns.

12z EPS is only out through my birthday/Insurrection Day. But at least it shows near average 850s. That’s a win by most recent January standards.

I also have a January birthday. Jan 20th. It has never snowed on my birthday. There have been some close calls (Jan 19th, Jan 21st, etc) Just like our ability to avoid white Christmases. I haven't even kicked a puppy for several years.
