  1. The weather advisory mentioned minor coastal flooding, but it is definitely more than minor.  My in-law's beach house in University Place has flooding higher than they have ever seen! Their basement room is completely flooded and they had to take the chickens in the house because of the pond in the back yard.  Combination of King tides and extreme low pressure, plus SW winds pushing the waves even higher.

I just don't get the wind thing on here.  I pretty much dread it when it appears likely.

I enjoy a good windstorm but because I work in park maintenance I don't care for the cleanup required.  Since I am on vacation this week, my coworkers who are working can deal with it if anything significant happens.  The Hanukkah Eve storm in 2006 was terrible...it took us weeks to clear the 5 mile drive at Point Defiance.  Don't want to deal with that again!

Why are people talking like this is over?  Really bizarre.

I just had higher expectations based on the potential but still think we'll get something interesting in the Tacoma area before this is over.  It's hard to see all the snow up north and not be disappointed in what could have been.

Imagine this… more than 170+ flights canceled out of SeaTac largely thanks to the models uncertainty. This is unacceptable and something needs to be done about the GFS.

We arrived at SeaTac from Palm Springs last night at 10 and it was snowing but just wet runways so definitely no reason to cancel or delay unless related to other airport issues.

Meanwhile the SW wind is ripping through Fircrest and 42 this morning.  Pretty disappointed.

All you had to do was pick out his key words, southern movement, cold air, timeframe, and he was D**n good at it.  He would look so far upstream on live satellite loops and put together a decent forecast of the cold air, quite impressive sometimes.

If I remember correctly, he would talk a lot about "main and broader cold" and the movement of it.  Very cryptic at times but fascinating.

Great ensemble improvements! :) Worried about flying out of Seattle on the 19th, though. I hope if we do get snow the time frame moves up 12-24 hours. That seems to be the theme this year so fingers crossed.

I don't want to get too excited, but this could be one of those rare events where I experience cold and snow out here first and a week later experience the same cold and snow out east.

We're flying out of SeaTac on the 16th to Palm Springs and returning on the 19th.  Wondering what conditions we'll face on return? Hopefully we'll get home ok.

My Grandma-in-Law who is with us has been on about how this year feels like the ones of her childhood, so that might be something, or that might mean Grandma needs her meds adjusted.

My boss's Aunt Bonnie who is known to have dreams and visions that occasionally come true, had one not long ago where we got 3 feet of snow! It reminded me of the GFS.
