Excessive heat is a worse stressor to the body.
So is a car crash. I can think of lots of extreme things that are stressors.

Looks like we might put up a couple more lows in the 30s this week before the warmth comes.
One thing about this very cool weather is it doesn't bode well for the mid section of the country at all. These cold troughs in the NW have been the fuel for the severe weather there.
I do enjoy cool nights and sunny days. Any time the sun is shining between now and early October feels decently warm.

I'm sure glad we got those couple of nice days last week. There is just something about gloom with long days that rubs me wrong. It's worth it to get a much below normal max like today though.
I agree on the gloom part... but for me the cold max is just insult to injury. I actually don't mind 60s and rain in the warm season. I can do without 40s.

Pulled off a high of 49 here today. No easy trick for this late in the year. I actually think this spring has had a pretty dynamic mix of temps.
Yes... overall its been decent. The last couple weeks have been crappy though. Par for the course. There are probably 1 or 2 more periods like this coming up before we get to our annual warm/dry period.

Last 2 days for us. Greens are popping, nice to get properly hydrated but otherwise I agree - way too cold and zero break in the gloom; about as much fun as 65 around Christmas. Proper vitamin D stretch is on the way tho!
Yes... about to be rewarded. But I am certain there will be plenty more cool/wet days between now and the 4th of July. Because that is how it works almost every year up here. This talk of endless heat and sun from now until October is pretty silly.

Felt like November out there
Not a big fan of waiting through 9 months of 40s and rain to have 40s and rain.

I thought the EPS looked cooler overall. Surprised to see so many members going for an even warmer peak in the long range.

Intermittent sprinkles here. Just out of range again! Pavement's even dry... Though it's cool and chilly with a nice breeze on. Fast moving cumulus overhead.
Hoping you get hit by c-zone tomorrow.

Seattle northward and eastward is getting pounded right now.

Today is definitely making up for yesterday skunking up here.
No doubt... better get some tangible benefit if we have to put up with December weather in May.

Glad to hear you are scoring some rainfall up there. The northern half of Washington needs it badly, heading into fire season.
I got you to respond to Randy just to say the opposite of me!
Don't think we need it badly up here. It's plenty wet and Randy's area barely gets out of the 70s anyways. BLI is wetter than normal for the year. And from Seattle northward it's much easier to get rain all summer with c-zones.
But the dire warnings are noted. Must always be dire warnings. Even when it's pouring rain and in the 40s in May.

It shows me in red, as it has since June 2022. Pretty much in line with my rain gauge readings about 50-60% of normal.
Sequim is a desert and has a really low annual rainfall. They had two decent storms this spring that missed my area. All they need is a few storms to hit normal as normal is only a few inches by this time of year.
Must be very localized. All around the Olympics there is no sign of dryness. HQM, UIL, Sequim, BLI.

Elwha watershed numbers also in line with these maps over the last two years. It’s been bad here.
Snowpack is an issue this spring. Rainfall has been around normal.

Yup, sure looks like normal for upper peninsula
Not reality as shown earlier. But good for inducing drought anxiety here.

They have been hammered by every storm. Pretty much the only area above normal for last 2 years
And yet Sequim is perfectly normal and BLI is wetter than normal for the year as well. Right in line with UIL.

Also, I wasn't implying your kids are freeloading. I know they are not. One of them works at Boeing I understand, probably makes more than me. The world is tough to navigate as a young person, some people never figure it out. Sometimes it seems like things are intentionally confusing. In many ways technological advancement has made our lives much more stressful and unsatisfying.
Both have good jobs now but they are also still paying off debt they accumulated with us over the last few years. I would probably just let it slide but my wife is very insistent on holding them to their word. My son who works at Boeing is also investing at least half his salary into IRAs because he did the calculations and knows its best to build up investments early and let time work for you over the next 40 years. I wish we had done more of that in our early 20s.

Nice leverage you have over them.
I would love to transfer it all to them. As you will learn... its a slow process with young adults.

Hottest EPS maps will be quoted in 3….2….
Do you like cold/wet maps?? I didn't know that. You only talk about it being cold and wet forever.
12Z EPS was noticeably cooler than its 00Z run. I usually post the entire loop of the EPS. I just posted the white hot ECMWF map this morning to needle Andrew.

Yikes. Please don't disown your own family.
But if the kids pay for their own cars they don't count as yours, even if they live with you.
My sons don't live here any longer. And they do pay for their own cars. But the titles and insurance are in my name.
