Just hit freezing here and sure enough there are a few frozen drops forming at the end of the bushes out back. It was the slowest cooldown ever over the last 12 hours. 37 to 32 over that long length of time.

Pretty darn lucky the bulk of the precip is during peak daytime heating. A lot of the metro would have been an absolute mess.
Definitely. I think the next 2 hours could be pretty bad for the favored eastside neighborhoods, but it would have been much worse if this happened overnight. I notice the easterly breeze is hitting raindrops against the windows now. It would have been freezing rain even here if this hit overnight. Sitting at 34 here still.

The Portland area continues to cool slightly at the lower levels. Seems like pdx is struggling to get back down to freezing though which means most areas might just be slightly too warm for significant icing this afternoon. It is down to 34 here now though.

The cold air has definitely fought back west through the gorge. Hood River was at 41 last night, but is now back down to 27 with snow this morning. Temperature and dew point is also starting to drop at pdx. Look out eastsiders...

Sat at about 36 degrees all night. The ale melt continued and things look a lot clearer out there this morning. Just some slush left that should finally melt away throughout today. They cancelled school for today already though which is surprising. 7 day weekend for me!

Temp leveled off and appears to be falling. 32.4 after a high of 32.9. Limbs are really starting to fall.
I hit 41 as a high, but was only above 40 for about an hour today. Back down to 37 here. The cold pool is definitely putting up a fight. Very slow thaw all day here.

PDX is fighting for its life over the freezing mark! Goin between 30 and 32 degrees depending on the wind switch.

SW wind has broken through here and it is all the way up to 41. HEATWAVE!

Finally hit 33 degrees here. Definitely thawing out much slower than the forecast called for so far. Some dripping from the roofs now, but the melting is very slow.

I have about 1/2” of icing on the trees. Now that the sub tropical temperatures have moved in let’s see how this melting goes today.
What is the temperature up to there?

Almost out of the woods here. Still some light freezing rain right now though. It is incredibly icy out there, but warming up and the meltdown should begin soon. Up to 31 here.

Still 27 here. No sign of a warmup yet with a the break in the moisture.

It is just pouring rain on this backend of the band. Everything already has a pretty decent layer of ice on it.
Once the precipitation passes, it might be a chance for valley locations to start to warmup.

Had a high of 29 again here. Now 27 with a mix of sleet and freezing rain.

Tigard-Tualatin school district is already closed for tomorrow. I just started the job and already have a 5 day weekend.
Bless the arctic gods.

Hit a high of 29 here and now back down to 28 degrees. Third day in a row of subfreezing temps. I think tomorrow should make #4 unless we mix out in the evening here.

East wind is back even here in Tigard this morning. Made the dog walk feel much colder this morning, even though yesterday was technically a little colder. Setting up our freezing rain!

Yep, I hear the pangs of sleet against my window once again. We have had tons of sleet over the last few years here. Strange.

The temperature reading at pdx must be wrong. Still at 36 even though much of the Portland metro area is back down to 31-33 degrees. They are also reporting freezing rain which is tough to do at 36 degrees.
