  1. I've only experienced 1 thundersnow in my life. 05/06/2015 in Klamath Falls. There was another here reported back in 2004 but that was well before I came here. I don't recall when the previous one was before 2004.
  2. I see everyone gets a share of the winter now. Maybe one of the few winters where the whole PNW gets a good snow?
  3. The pack is taking yet another beating. It's way low compared to just a couple days ago.
  4. Ha, noticed KLMT reports rain last couple observations. My additional few hundred feet on the hill sometimes makes that much of a difference. The flakes outside don't lie to me.
  5. Some off/on periods of decent sized flakes, more than light at times. Too bad it's still well above freezing. Same accumulation since my midnight measurement. (3")
  6. Looks like there was a little break in the snow for some hours until 6-6:30am. Also above freezing so any new snow shouldn't be sticking. 36 degrees with light snow.
  7. 3.00" for the midnight measurement. A little mediocre for snowfall 01/09. But regardless I still expect January to be epic for monthly snowfall totals here even if the rest of the month goes at a regular pace. 27.15" now for January 2017.
  8. I can't believe I thought 12/14 was a "good snow" here with a 6.00" accumulation lolz. Soon after this I had quite the wake up call. Now I have real standards for snow. Big stuff like this actually does interest me (snow may not be my favorite weather but I AM a storm junkie) and initially the Jan 3rd storm made it hard for me to sleep overnight. 5am I finally crashed and felt like crap next afternoon. (but I suppose the lost sleep was worth it.)
  9. You won't believe how often I've heard that in t'storm season (even here in K-Falls). "It doesn't look like thunder later, I'll wash the car and take the kids to the lake" (pays no attention to the forecast) "Holy $#!T huge storm! No one saw that coming!" (maybe the weather guy and I saw it?)
  10. Just snowed a couple inches out there. Radar says a bunch more on the way. Maybe until midnight. I'll measure later.
  11. I'm also considering potential in between rain events, highs above freezing, etc etc. And this also could depend on other 10-12" inch days (these are pretty rare whether you like to buy it or not). Getting 2 or 3 1 foot days all in one January I don't think is within reason. I'm not hoping it won't. It actually would look nice and polished on my signature. I'm just being a realist, and considering everything that I've seen in the winter over the years. And I'm still actually sticking with the idea of this month turning out to be a significant January for snowfall. We could end up with some of the most snow since Jan 1950 here in K-Falls.
  12. My yard pack went all the way down to 12-13". Even some spots down to 10". I'm near 100% sure I'm not getting 2+ foot depths this winter. (Not long ago this was a huge possibility. It easily could have ended up between 24-30")
  13. There is a 20' foot high snow pile in front of Olympic Inn... It's gonna be there until our first heat. I'm naming it Mt. St. Klamath.
  14. Another perk about the Klamath Basin is that it doesn't seem to care or notice which wind direction we have during snow events.
  15. The roads actually are either just wet or slushy. You underestimated yesterday's rain. Even I did to an extent. lol It's sidewalks and parking lots that have suffered a little.
  16. Starting to flurry. 31 degrees. And looks like our garbage is being taken out now finally. We were backed up for a week.
  17. I get those almost after every snow here, you'll like this area. The ones that catch my attention are the post-hard freezing fog mornings.
