  1. 12z Euro is brrrr as well. It will be a pretty warm period before then, though.
  2. PSEA stands for sea level pressure and anomaly. I picked up another 1.57" of rain last night. We've been getting heavy rain events consistently all summer.
  3. The Cedar Rapids area was smoked by two more rounds of heavy rain last night between 11pm-2am. The north side really got hit, ending up with 3.5-4+. My total is 2.91". This is my third big rain event this summer. I think the north side has had four of these events. I love it. I wish we could repeat this every summer.
  4. The heaviest stuff went south, but I did get in on some good downpours within a larger rain shield. For now I'm at about 0.87" for the day. Other locations around the city and area received 1-2+ inches.
  5. Now that met summer is over, I'm ready for the 70s dews to be done. In addition to the 75 dew, today was officially the first 90 degree high temp in Cedar Rapids since July 21st.
  6. 07-08 was awesome here. I received a record 62 inches of snow. It was also not particularly cold, which is a plus. I would kill for another winter like that.
  7. We did not add any rain the last few days so my August total is 7.16".
  8. I picked up another 0.45" of rain overnight, which boosts my August total to 7.12". My summer total is 20.23", obviously well above avg.
  9. I got a couple nice storms early this morning that dropped 1.43" of rain along with nice lightning/thunder. Big rain totals were spotty around here, though, while up in far northeast Iowa a line of storms trained for hours and dropped 6-8+ inches.
  10. There were some heavy cells around Iowa yesterday, but the evening line crapped out before reaching me. I only picked up 0.27". This morning we've been in the upper 60s with a dew falling down through the 60s.
  11. That flooded parking lot full of pickups and RVs is going to be very costly.
  12. My overnight rain total is 3.62", and I was even in a relative dry pocket. 5-6 inches fell in a narrow band south of the city.
  13. The training storms ended up right through Cedar Rapids. 3-4 inches has fallen across the city, with up to 4.7" in a couple spots outside the city.
  14. The morning outflow pushed way down to the Missouri border. This evening's storms may pop in the Sioux City to Fort Dodge area and head east/south from there. I'm hoping we can get some heating this afternoon.
  15. Last evening's storms were just what was needed, a nice widespread soaking. I picked up 1.09". There were strong to severe wind reports around the area, but I didn't see any of it. I did get a lightning strike very near my house, the closest strike in years. It appears some of Earl's moisture may eventually work its way up into our region late next week. Models are pretty active by then.
  16. I wasn't expecting the 80 dewpoint air to stick around all day today. Waterloo is down to mid 60s dew, but the nw wind just hasn't brought any relief here, yet.
  17. Wisconsin/Illinois mcs pushed an outflow boundary westward through eastern Iowa tonight and the storm bubble-up has followed. I may get some good rain when I expected none.
  18. Hey all. I was in the hospital for a few days, but now I'm back following the weather. I'm kinda glad we missed out on the severe weather and heavy rain while I was away from my home/computer. It is truly awful out there today. The heat index has been well into the 110s all afternoon. If I was 100% healthy I might try mowing my neighbor's long grass this evening, but I'm still a little weak so there's no way I could do that. We've had plenty of rain this summer, but we could still use an inch after this heat.
  19. More storms in western Iowa are spreading clouds back over Iowa, so we won't be destabilizing.
  20. Today's storm event didn't pan out for me and points north. Again, the blame can be placed on mcs action to the south. Our best two or three severe chances this summer have fallen victim to this. We should have a better chance this weekend as Missouri should be capped.
  21. I picked up yet another 0.95" of rain overnight. I don't expect we'll see any redevelopment later.
  22. Good luck. It sucks to lose an active forum member to another region.
  23. Iowa is nothing but crops outside the city limit.
  24. There's no surprise mcs to keep us cooler today. It's up to 87/76 at noon.
  25. We had a surprise wet Sunday. The Minnesota mcs refused to follow orders, instead holding together well down into Iowa. I ended up with 0.69". Attention now turns to Tuesday/Wednesday.
