  1. We also spent our honeymoon in Leavenworth 8 years before we moved here. And we split it between Run of the River and Mountain Home Lodge. It was in late January. Both amazing places. And we go fairly often to Sun Mt Lodge. It's so much different than Winthrop. So many trails and great views. Mt home Lodge Run of the River Sun mountain lodge
  2. When you live here, you pretty much don't ever want to go back to the West side anyway. All kidding aside, that is a point, but the fastest way to Seattle and points South is to take 97 down to I-90 anyway. Doesnt take that long to get there. Only Everett and points North are faster by highway 2.
  3. I wouldn't mind summers 10 degrees cooler, I totally get that.
  4. Yeah hot in the summers and occasionally smokey, but fall is colorful and winter is awesome. I've probably had 60 inches so far, and about 2.5 feet on the ground. Snow on the ground since Nov. 6th
  5. The Barkley Village web cam NE of downtown Bellingham looks like it may be above freezing. Roads look clearer, and it looks like cars are kicking up water and are driving without problems at normal speed. Also, the ice on the camera lens is starting to drip.
  6. Another whining jealous Oregon poster. Fortunately most of the Oregon posters are pretty cool. Most.
  7. Yeah you're right. Misread it. Will update with the new one when it comes out.
  8. She once showed a picture of her house from the outside. Beautiful home. I warned her, though, to not share that picture too much or Hallmark will come knocking at her door wanting to film a Christmas movie there.
  9. How are Lake Padden and Lake Whatcom for ice? I've seen Padden frozen before.
  10. But I would think an inch of freezing rain would weigh the same as 10 inches of snow. I read where .5 inches of freezing rain can add 500 pounds to a surface.
  11. My memory is that a few days after Christmas, when everyone by then had snow on the ground (Skagit County north had snow before Christmas), the forecast was for rain. Maybe they thought the low would go North and bring warm air with it. I was at my parents home in Anacortes, and it was during the 5pm news, and my mom upstairs came down to tell us they changed the forecast to snow.
  12. Just wanted to bump this for those who didn't see it earlier.
  13. The PNW will always be tough, and better forecasts will happen with experienced forecasters being able to use data from past events to help with current events. That may be the best that can be done for a few decades.
