  1. Total of .25". .1" last night and a surprise .15" this morning which was a wintry mix with a temp of 36F.
  2. .50" last night. 19.4" for the year and 16.5" snow.
  3. .25" after a burst of heavy rain, light rain now...
  4. Great write up Dan & postulation. I haven't read the linked article yet, I am wondering if atmospheric readings have been done in regards to what you've mentioned - black carbon, CO2, and other chemical byproduct - for both areas above said pollution and outwards as you head east from china over the pacific (or more specifically in the direction in which winds would carry these pollutants). Talk about Irony, regardless if climate has been altered or not, but simply the affect of U.S. outsourcing the manufacturing of such a large amount of goods & the affect, that I could only describe as negative, on so many different aspects of life / nature / economy etc etc.
  5. A whopping TR of rain recorded this afternoon! NWS SD forecasting up to 1" of rain here with snow levels probably staying above 7k through Sunday night.
  6. Pretty unreal. Snow fell in spots that haven't seen any for 20+ years.
  7. The last picture is Lake Elsinore looking west towards the backside of the Santa Ana mountains. I could see this snow from my house in the mountains today a good 70+ miles away. The rest are Temecula area. You could call this photo series "The best of Instagram."
  8. I have just 7" and melting from this past storm. It was cold and very wind driven so it's neat to see the 'snow dunes' form and areas with 2-3 foot drifts. My season total is 16.5", well below normal.
  9. Yesterday was a 20/12 day. 20 being my coldest daytime max temp in my 8 years living here, previously was 24, smashed that record! Came close to a high of 19 but briefly it tapped 20 before going right back down. Today shaping up to be 32/18 unless temps plummet before midnight which they might considering snow cover and no winds today.
  10. Winter storm warning starts at 4pm......currently experiencing heavy wind driven snow with 2" on the ground (massive 6" drifts LOL) and a temp of 23F which is the coldest daytime temp while its snowing that I've recorded here in 8 years.
  11. NWS SD seems to be model riding this one - yesterday my area in San bernardino mnts forecast was for 4"-8", this morning a paltry 1"-3" and now up to 6"-12". I can't take it LOL!
  12. 38 when I went to bed and 40 this morning and quite windy, 42 currently. This after 4 days with highs 34 or below.....
  13. NWS SD put up their winter storm watch calling for just 2"-4" in the high desert and 4"-8" in the mountains. I see above the LA NWS has up to a foot of snow and the locations we're talking about aren't that far apart.... In other news, Dallas Raines said it was going to snow on Christmas (it didn't and I wonder what he got paid LOL) so since Thursday it's been bumper to bumper traffic on every route going to big bear. Taking people 4 hrs to get up the 330 when normally it takes less than 30 minutes and another 3 hrs to big bear when normally about 45min.....big bear has two runs open........
  14. I know I'd love to see more discussion on this evolving pattern! Potentially the coldest at my location in 8+ years AND it comes with snow!?! 24/7 is my coldest day and night recorded (not on the same occasion) and Wed forecast is currently 22/10.
  15. NWS SD right now expecting 6"+ snow in San Bernardino mnts the/wed with snow level dipping down to 2000' ccasionally. Still just a baby storm with totals like that but greater than any single snow last season.
  16. The winds here haven't stopped since Christmas eve and since that same time it's been above freezing for a total of about 3hrs. I'm guessing the wind changed direction overnight since the temp rose 6degrees from 24 last night to 30 now. Looking fwd to next week with some highs in the 20's with snow!
  17. Close to .25" drizzle rain and the occasional moderate shower with snow mixing in. Forecast was for all snow 2"-4" today so I guess the liquid equivalent is at least about right. Hoping the winter storm watch for tonight through tomorrow verifies with ~6".
  18. Pretty much the best commentary ever for a weather video!
  19. I have 'snow likely' forecast all week long (except Friday), just like the recent rains we haven't had multiple days of snow forecasted for two or three years! You know its a bad drought when you forget what a 'normal' winter is!
  20. Ok it's snowing! Heavy wet wind driven snow.
  21. Rain trying to switch to snow here. 34F
  22. I topped out at 6.85" - 2 day total and doesn't look like there'll be more. Yucaipa ridge at 9000' shows 14.5"!! Warmest December rain I've experienced here with temps at 48 the entire two days. Usually a warm winter rain event is closer to 40F at my elevation. Dropped to 43F this am which felt crisp and has stayed there all day.
  23. Since July 1st I've received 4.9" rain. I've now received more than that entire amount in the last 36 hours.
  24. I've received about 5" rain since yesterday morning (3.35" falling yesterday) when the rain started - mostly a continuous moderate rain briefly turning heavy or in the other direction to a light rain / drizzle. On and off raining heavily tonight. Flash flood watch still on until 4am. Quite warm for December rain at a steady 48F since yesterday. Yucaipa ridge is a little south of me on the face of the San Gorgonio wilderness and rises pretty quickly straight up from the valley and if I'm not mistaken is pretty much facing SW. In my experience with large storms when the snow level is steady let's say around 5000' areas below that like Crestline at 4200' (lake Gregory) will get as much as 10" rain while up here around 6000' we'll get around 2 to 3 feet snow.
  25. 65F up here which is D**n near unheard of this time of year combined with an overnight low of 51F after we've been steady dipping into the 30's for a couple weeks now. I'm ok with all rain to start off the season down here.
