  1. i just want COLD.. TN is due for a cold winter..
  2. EXTREME NW Tennessee. any more north, im in Ky. any more west and im in Mo.
  3. MUCH appreciated. to be honest, im mostly concerned with cold over snow. LOVE days where the highs are mid 30's or lower. preferably much lower. snow here is a bonus. snow just north of me is what i need. (ducks and geese)
  4. can any of you folks kinda give an idea of what i can look for in extreme north west Tennessee for december? it seems this area is a bit of a challenge.
  5. Snow on the ground in nwtn. Its early for here. Very early.
  6. thats a total 180 from basically everything i have been seeing? has something changed in the last couple days that i am oblivious to?
  7. NW TN looks above agv. snow all the way through!! not saying much anymore though. i wish for the storms from when i was a kid. snow otg for most of the entire winter.. decent stroms and real cold weather. (we got a taste last year with one day the high was 7 where i was at. that is incredibly cold for here now)
  8. it it asking too much that i just want solid snow cover reaching all the way to mississippi and no above 32 high for the month of jan from so ill north??
  9. i have no been able to find anything measurable so ill ask here. does anyone know in kilauea's summer activity will have any impact on this winter? i can not find any SO2 measurements nor can i find a baseline for H2SO4 impact. only thing i can find related to the subject is pinetubo caused and avg departure of 1.3 degrees at peak. i do know that kilauea gives off higher than normal levels of sulfur dioxide and the eruption was exceptionally long lasting considering the amount of venting taking place. anyone have any thoughts? could help cause our rain events to be snow events. (one can hope)
  10. i tend to agree there. kinda tracking up the ohio valley is what my gut says.
  11. numbers. they are everywhere. and not just in a small area. mallards are already in parts of south texas that they have not been seen in in 20 years. we have geese here. they normally don't show up until a little after christmas. 13-14 season, they showed up dec 10. mallards are here in mid Jan. numbers. NWTN, SEMO, and NEAR. black birds normally stall their migration here. they are LONG GONE!! i never NEVER seen the volume of deer movement that i have seen in the last month. woodducks migrated early this year. raccoons have gorged them selves since last spring. we actually had a fall here since i don't know when. leaves actually changed colors. usually they just fall off about december 1. a lot more too. just more subtle.
  12. I know most of ya don't buy into the idea that nature gives us signs that we don't yet understand, but this year, waterfowl are acting in a way that i have not seen in 20 years. something strange is indeed going on.
  13. not sure i buy that. wid winter chill all the way to brownsville Tx, but "RAIN" for Tennessee and SE Missouri. that would make for a very strange winter indeed.
  14. here is an odd report for you. never seen it before, nor have i heard of such. the plumb trees in my yard are blooming again. right now. odd early fall for sure..
  15. according to that, would that mean that if the west coast ridging develops that all the cold will be forced into the mid region (between rockies and apps) of the country?
  16. we usually get a few that get really close, but more times than not, the warm air gets here first and we end up with temps ranging from 28-33 for low/high and all we get is rain. it would be a return to my childhood to have a good snow on the ground around christmas. LOVE snow, but after the last several years (13-14 an exception) i will be happy with just below average temps for an extended period.
  17. COLD!!!! not much snow, but VERY COLD!! and that is what i want. i just hate 33 and raining.
  18. can anyone give a regional run down of the 88-89 winter. its the year it stayed bitter cold here
  19. let that shift a bit more to the east and give me well below.
  20. i don't know. that was 3 1/2 years before i was born. first year i can half way remember (plus there are dated pictures) was the 88-89 winter. would take a repeat of that for sure!! (everything froze around thanksgiving and did not thaw until jan 2.) had snow on the ground for just over a month.
  21. No sir. we did get the one (well 2) that hit late feb for 7in, then got smoked by a borderline blizzard on march 4-5. (2015) took me 5 hours to go 40 miles in it (i was goose hunting when it started and it was just supposed to be rain and sleet here). would have loved to have had that around christmas. i think the one you are thinking of went south of me. hit memphis and shut down atlanta.
  22. i hope you are right. do a lot of duck hunting and since we don't get snow like we used to, i can at least hope for cold. (cold and no rain is ideal for me. if we get precipitation, i want it to be frozen.)
  23. i'm actually on the other side of the state right next to the mississippi river. (less than 2 miles from the river and less than 2 miles from the Ky line. in the SE Mo, NE Ark, NW Tn, West Ky mystery bag where weather does not really follow the rules.
  24. been reading this for a good while now and not sure exactly where i would fit in. (area wise) i'm in extreme NW Tennessee. have given up on seeing real snow storms over the past 20 or so years, but i can still hope for cold now and again. any one have any thoughts on yearly record lows in my area? ( NDJ is all i care about)
