  1. Nope, but the longer term decline into the next glacial should initiate sometime around 2017 (+/- 1yr), with a significant temperature drop occurring during the 2020s. We finished up our warming in 2012.

A lot of people are predicting the exact opposite. Lots of calls for record or near-record global warmth in 2014, with an El Niño developing.

That's all they're talking about in the climate change sub-forum on AmericanWx right now.

  2. Somebody should contact Jim.

I am almost positive that he has no idea that this new forum exists... he just thinks there is something wrong with the old forum.     Completely oblivious.    :)

I don't think you're giving him enough credit.

We were actually in correspondence a few days ago regarding the forum switch. He knows all about it. He probably knew before most of us did.

  3. It will suck. I'm not looking forward to it. The continental cold really isn't that bad until the winds kick in. It was below -5F for most of the middle of the week last week here but I could barely tell with the calm winds. Of course, once you take your gloves off and your hands start to feel pain, you know it's cold... but I've never felt as cold out East as I do out west. The humid cold is just bone chilling. You just shiver in the dampness.

I thought you were in South Surrey, BC?

  4. Hard to complain about today, Mostly sunny and fairly mild! Felt like a early summer evening while driving back north from North Seattle late this afternoon. The morning sunrise has become noticeably earlier as well. How about one major shot of arctic cold and snow around the first week of February, then a very early spring and a summer like we had last year!

39/34 with fog down here. Nice to have it feeling like winter again at least.

Personally I am hoping for a cold/active first half of spring this year. The mountains will be needing the snow and it would be nice to have some active weather for a few months.
