December 12-14th Snow and Rain system
centralweather44 replied to Geos's topic in East of the Rockies
Sitting at 39 degrees here in Lincoln and have been all day. Actually got up to 40 degrees in the early afternoon. If we do get to freezing we are going to need some crazy dynamic cooling to do so. I push snow so will probably be up every hour tonight just to make sure. Going to be a little frustrated if it doesn't snow at all. My luck is if I don't get up in the middle of the night we will end up with half a foot, and if I do it won't snow at all. Guess time will tell. -

Ya we had a pretty health strike in Lincoln about 20 mins ago. Power flashed here as well. -

The cut off is just crazy. Us in southeast Nebraska look to get missed again. I think it is going to be central and western Nebraskas yest considering the snow they have already received. Looks like we will sit with 1.25" of snow for the year for a while longer here. -

Hit 63 in southeast Nebraska. Hard to believe it is December. -

Makes me wonder if this will shift northwest over the next week. Seems like all of the other storms this winter have so far. Should be fun to track over the next week or so -

Is this the same pattern that brought western Nebraska and Kansas tornados? This of coarse referring to Jim flowers 30 day cycle. If so is in southeast Nebraska got rain. Western Nebraska got snow though. Central Nebraska looks to be the hot spot this winter. I think many of them have already seen 6-10" of snow total between all the storms that have went through here. Hoping to get something going in southeast Nebraska this winter. -

1.2" reported at the airport here in Loncoln in southeast Nebradka. Usually don't agree with the airport but this year they are spot on. Other than that just flurries, and of coarse the ice we had last Thursdsy night. Central Nebraska and just west of here 50-75 miles or so they have had 4-10" or more depending on location -

There are a few posters just trying to get a rise of people. It's time to move on. We get it. You believe it is going to be warm, others cold. Big deal and move on. This is just for fun so lets just relax. -

I can attest to the 30 day cycle. I do snow removal and it always seems like we push snow or have an event every 30 days. I went back to look at snow invoices and this is true for the past 4 years. -
11/29 - 11/30 Plains/Midwest Snowstorm
centralweather44 replied to Tom's topic in East of the Rockies
I'll take 2-4" any day. We have to be real. We don't get 8-12" in southeast Nebraska very often. Our typical snows are 2-6". 2-4" still puts all my plows on the ground -

Looks like Lincoln may be right on the edge. Right now they are calling for 35 degrees on Monday as well -
Thanksgiving Day - Black Friday Storm System

If we could get that to drift just a bit south we will be sitting well in Lincoln. I truly think it will be a day of type thing. All depends on where temps are. We are on a tippy point by the looks of it right now -

Tomorrow shall be an interesting day. Calling for .10-.40 of inch between 9am-6pm. I sure hope everyone drives safe. Hoping to squeeze out an inch or so of snow as well. We will see tomorrow. -

As always. That and we are right on the edge. No surprise really though. Long range calling for back in the 40s after Tuesday. With me being a contractor at least it allows us to get some more work done before the ground freezes. Things are still super muddy after the inch of rain last week b -

Winter storm watch because of freezing rain doesn't have to many people exciting. Rain elsewhere has others disappointed. The past day or two has been dead in here. This place lights up when the lakes and upper Midwest has snow forecasted. -

None of the local weather mets are talking snow. They are talking freezing rain though. Temps right on the border once again. -
So has the thanksgiving storm disappeared?

Midwest & Great Lakes November 20-21st Snowstorm
centralweather44 replied to Geos's topic in East of the Rockies
True. We will just need a bit of heavy banding. I know a lot of things are still up in the air. Things have been settling south a little bit compared to what it was a few days ago. We are right on the edge of 1-2 inches right now. Would love to squeeze out 1 or 2 inches to get the plows on the ground. It will be interested to see what the models do tomorrow. Winds just picked up here in Lincoln about 30 minutes ago. Blowing around 20-30 mph, with gusts even higher. -
Midwest & Great Lakes November 20-21st Snowstorm

We dont seem to do very well in Lincoln and Omaha with the clippers. I expect to see a little bit of snow but 4" ground temps are still in the 40's around here. Most will melt after hitting the ground. It would be great to see a healthy snow before thanksgiving. But doesn't happen very often here in southeast Nebraska. We usually have to wait until December before that happens. -
Further north by the looks of it

100 mile shift northwest would be nice. But not going to happen. What is Winterfreak? He's been wanting snow all winter? He'll fair better than most of us on this forum with this first wave

Can you post Tom?

Only 7"? I'll take that from both of these two storms to come combined. Beggers can't be choosers.

Usually between 1130 and 1230
