  1. "They should have issued a WSW earlier..." but the reality is that everyone in the Seattle area knew that there was snow potential this week. People in greater Seattle are obsessed with the weather, and obsessed with snow in the winter. It is quite unique, and I think it has to do with our rainy climate––people cling to the idea of something different being possible, be it snow or sun or wind. I can tell you it's certainly not the case in Spokane, and as a result, NWS Spokane tends to be much more predictable about when they do or don't issue watches, warnings, or advisories. There are few other locations in the country, beyond Seattle, where it's less meaningful whether or not a WSW is issued.
  2. this is good news. we don't listen to or care about cliff or anything he says
  3. *Finally* getting some light, very wet snow in south Spokane, after a full day of teasing.
  4. Alta, Brighton, and Solitude could probably have most of their terrain open right now with how much base they're showing. Of course it'll take some time to open more up.
  5. Personally I'd like more precip and this is classic late-November, early-December Niña so...looks good to me!
  6. Or just precip generally. Cold zonal flow is best for mountain snow!
  7. Just dropping in to say "ugh" to the lack of precip in the midrange.
  8. I love how quickly people went from trashing the GFS to riding it *hard.* This is still ~7-10 days out and the ECMWF remains the superior model. Let's not get carried away yet.
  9. The start of the persistent weak layer we'll be dealing with in January!
  10. Really a beautiful evening tonight crossing the 520. Nice and crisp, fantastic sun angle. Only thing missing was the mountain being out!
  11. euro dropped this (of course we’ll see what happens. clearly there’s some debate in the models starting about 6 days out)
