Will have to keep a eye on how the sunrise and sunset pay out over the days ahead. The more red they are the more dust there could be in the upper atmosphere.
It's interesting to see that some of the outlets are even suggesting...dare I say, "Global Cooling"...although, this eruption isn't as big as some in the past but you never know what the future may present.

My experience says May-September is the intolerable season, and obviously June is the worst since its just sunny and hot. If you go up to Flag or some of the other communities it makes a big difference.
The diff in temp up there can be as high as 30F compared to the valley in the summer...and yes...its quite enjoyable up there in the summer with the smell of the fresh pine!

Yes, it sure does...the avg 100F+ degree days are between 100-110 days if I remember correctly. This will be my 1st official summer here in the PHX valley, however, I may be doing some traveling so maybe I won't spend as much time in the valley during the peak Heat season.

PHX torched yesterday and it sure did feel HOT...it hit 102F at 2:04pm...I was at the pool earlier in the day around Noon and it felt like a day in late May or early June. some ppl were complaining but I embraced it and didn't mind the Heat at all. Looking forward to the cool down coming later this week into the weekend.

We just barely hit 100F late yesterday afternoon (4:43pm) ...1st Hundo of the year...avg is May 2nd, iirc. Carbon copy today. Happy freaking Monday!

@Clinton the storm pattern targeting the West this week and then into the Plains really reminds me of the LRC's most noteworthy system (s). The 0z GFS from last night showed a run what has resembled a "Fujiwhara Effect" as there are multiple troughs digging into the SW region/Cali. I remember vividly these troughs delivering tremendous mountain Snows & Rain across Cali and the 4 corners. As you opined, a big ticket Multi-day Severe Wx is certainly on deck...I foresee this continuing well into MAY and even early JUN.

Happy Sunday all! Not much going on here in the Valley of the Sun, albeit, we are certainly living up to it's famed name! Nothing but sunshine and pristine blue skies. It's both remarkable and admiring how nature can deliver days upon days of clear skies out here. I'm looking out my patio deck window as the sun has just risen here (5:50am) and the winds are calm along with a very comfy 64F temp. Could we hit 100F today? It'll be a close one...after this mini Heat Wave, temps are to head BN for later in the week/weekend. Not a bad Spring 10-day forecast.

I wanted to comment about the weather on Tuesday, but I always get sidetracked in doing and looking at other things. Plus I was helping with storm cleanup for people from my church that evening. The first batch of showers Tuesday afternoon was heavier then it appeared on radar as PWATS were quite high, but I was in a gap between heavier cells of course. Still ended the first round with exactly 0.40". Then a short period of sunshine preceded an ominous shelf cloud from the last brief, intense line of storms. The sky looked greenish and I was out shooting video (with iPhone 15 Pro Max) and photos till the last second! But only 0.24" rain from that line with wind gust only around 43 mph and not as windy at my location as early in the afternoon. But had some decent hail with a few of the largest stones at 1" diameter. But 2 farms approximately 3-4 miles se. of me had buildings destroyed from a possible little spin up tornado or microburst? One building was totally flattened and the other farm had half of the roof gone among other damage. Total rainfall on Tuesday was only 0.64".
The drought maps may be off for my location since we've had very good rains in Mar. and especially this month. Field tile lines are running since the heavy rains of early April and water is standing in roadside ditches after each rainfall. With today's rainfall I'm approaching 4" for the month.
And it looks active again by late April.
You've done pretty well as has @OttumwaSnomow and this mornings rain is just adding to that theme today. I fully anticipate this pattern to persist well into MAY which could be too much of a good thing? Hope it doesn't get TOO wet for the planting season.

It appears that the majority of the U.S. Cornbelt region will be blessed with a lot of moisture as we close out April. @Clinton you should finally fill up that watering hole of yours!
After looking at the overnight radar loops, our KC peeps did fairly well I'd say...#trainingstorms

As I thought would happen out here in the "Valley of the Sun", the temps are steadily being increased in the 10-day and I wouldn't be surprised if we hit our 1st 100F by early next week...maybe on Passover?? Yesterday's highs in the upper 70's were fantastic and it was a perfect day laying out Poolside. Going to enjoy the last day of 80's for a little bit as we Torch midweek into next week!

As the morning went on the clouds quickly began to burn off and break up. About a 1/2 hour from totality a large clearing took place and passed over us during the entirety of totality, we had zero clouds! It was incredible! The prominences were much more pronounced this time vs. 2017. Other neat occurrences were nearby roosters crowing, crickets, noticeable drop in temp, and even a barred owl started to hoot shortly after totality. The reactions from the first-timers is always special too
Great trip! And the ranch we stayed at was absolutely spectacular, but that’s a different story. We are considering Egypt for the 2027 eclipse
That Eclipse over Egypt would be such a wonderful experience next to the pyramids! You got me thinking about it...it will be the longest total eclipse in 87 years (6 min and 23 sec)...

Looks like some bonafide Spring weather heading for Chitown this weekend into next week...I see a string of 70's??? Although, that pesky "Pneumonia Front" is lurking for Sunday afternoon...I dreaded those Spring days where its soo nice outside for the 1st half of the day and in a matter of an hour you have to put your jacket on! In the summer, however, it's a great reprieve from the humidity and HEAT. Happy Friday Folks!
Oh ya, PHX hit 94F late in the afternoon...last year's 99F record was close...hope that it ain't a repeat summer this year. My gut feeling is that the SW ridge will be close but not right overhead and more or less east into NM and W TX. "Ring of Fire" pattern is gonna be a HOT HOT Theme in the summer months ahead.

You're probably wondering why I mention siblings living here and there, and jfyi, I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters. And one brother's winter home may be @Tom's neighbor!? Not sure what his exact address is, though it's in Fountain Hills.
That would be neat to meet some new folks out here in FH...

All indications are leaning towards real warm Spring weather and temps holding in the low 90's for an extended period starting next week. It was just a matter of time...Summer weather for sure.

I just spoke to my nephew who turned 10 years old today and they just arrived into Indy...I believe the race track...what a memory he will have for the rest of his life. Enjoy the show!

This is another video of last nights Country music show at the park in Fountain Hills…
We found an injured little bunny on 4/4 and would have hoped to see his momma come but she didn’t. I cared for it and the next morning I dropped it off at the Wildlfie conservation in Phoenix. The lady said they get many young animals this time of year. I was told the bunny would eventually be with a whole group of them once it fully recovers from its injury (hind leg).
The last picture is from this morning as I witnessed this bald Eagle
being attacked by two crows earlier. I suspect he stole their breakfast! Nevertheless, this Eagle showed them who’s boss around here.

Regarding the bolded, the blocking HP's in the Spring time that deliver easterly Flow off the cold lakes....oh ya, I definitely remember how that can be dreadful. Meantime, enjoy the warm weekend and I'm pretty certain you'll do good...or...will @OttumwaSnomow steal your storms??? My gut says your both going to end up doing well.
