  1. Taking the kids to Leavenworth on Thursday-Saturday. Assumed we'd have snow so we can head to the tube park. Yikes...
  2. DJ: We are relying on your optimism to turn things cold/snowy...
  3. Cliff Mass has said several times that the best chance the PNW has of receiving snowfall is usually on the way in or out with arctic fronts. Seems like we are continually receiving no moisture with arctic boundaries the past few years. Everything has been bone dry. With so relatively few chances of widespread cold (high temps in the 30's) in a winter season, it's disappointing to continually miss out when it's here.
  4. Model surfing at its best. Went to bed optimistic and woke up disappointed.
  5. I always see true winter in the PNW from Nov 15-Feb 15. Starting to lose confidence. Play-clock ticking down...
  6. NWS: LONG RANGE MODELS ARE INDICATING A POSSIBLE PATTERN CHANGE BY THE MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK. HOWEVER...MODELS DIFFER ON THE POSITIONING OF A HIGH OVER KONA LOW PATTERN OVER THE PACIFIC WHICH WILL DETERMINE THE STRENGTH OF NLY FLOW OVER WRN WA. THE 12/18Z GFS IS FURTHER E WITH THE LOW AND DUMPS MOST THE COLD AIR INTO THE ROCKIES. COLDER AIR WOULD ARRIVE ACROSS WRN WA IF THE ECMWF SOLUTION VERIFIED WITH THE LOW FURTHER W. EITHER WAY...A TRANSITION TO COOLER TEMPERATURES IS LIKELY ENOUGH TO TREND HIGH/LOW TEMPS DOWNWARD A BIT FOR WEDNESDAY. MERCER
  7. Getting exciting again...can't wait for the torch to end. We are overdue for a favorable snow/cold pattern.
  8. Anyone seeing any signs of colder weather in the extended or will the torch continue into January?
  9. Definitely did in December 2008. One of the best storms I can remember in the greater Metro area. I live in West Seattle. It just seems like the past few years we receive a quick, wet 1/2 inch that doesn't stick in the streets and warms up rapidly the next day. I'm not greedy--just want a 2-3 inch event that lasts 48 hours or more so I can take my daughter sledding and enjoy it around for a few days...the Metro area has been a major snow bust for some time. We are overdue.
  10. This sub-tropical moisture/torch is a major downer. Hopefully, a cold snap is around the corner soon. Trying to remember the last time Seattle/Tacoma had over 3-4 inches on the ground that lasted more than 24 hours... haven't used the real sled in about a decade.
