  1. Bad news. Not big enough of a city to matter.
  2. The Desert Southwest has moved to the Desert Northwest!
  3. 68 at SEA currently. 9-10°F cooler than back home!
  4. Low of 61 this morning, wish you were here for it @Phil!
  5. A high of 115 is probably easier to achieve than a high of 15 at PDX now
  6. “Corvegas” no longer seems appropriate. Vegas is too wet. Maybe Cairovallis? Northern Chilevallis?
  7. PDX MTD average: 77.3°F Average August in Chico: 76.7°F
  8. Oregon’s highway speed limits are also on par with densely populated northeastern states. Oregon is, population-wise, basically Montana or Wyoming with a 100 mile long populated corridor attached to it. Yet most highways have 55 MPH limits. Makes no sense.
  9. I will actually be in Seattle. Should be very refreshing.
  10. Why can’t Tiger just get an air filter for his gated mansion for the next couple days????
  11. Looks like Medford and Troutdale are tied for hottest place outside the Desert SW today.
  12. 107 at Hillsboro 108 at PDX 110 at Troutdale All three are all-time August records
  13. Hillsboro’s August record of 106 from 1977 is officially history.
  14. Wind at Troutdale has officially switched to easterlies.
  15. Also, back east winter is the season that changes most with respect to latitude… here’s it’s the season that changes least!
  16. Washington has 14 climate zones - compared to 3 in Maryland: 10 miles out west can make as much different as 100 miles back east.
  17. Fun fact: Corvallis has not seen 0.1” precip in one day since May 12 Corvallis has not seen 0.25” precip in one day since April 10
  18. The interior valleys of western Oregon (save for spots near the Gorge) are some of the least windy places in the US. Pretty sure it’s because of topography - the Willamette and Umpqua are relatively narrow valleys run north-south, while the Rogue Valley is basically a bowl surrounded by (fairly tall and rugged) mountains. 40MPH wind gusts are a once or twice a year thing here. If I’m correct some valleys near the Appalachians are also very low on average windspeed?
